Bob Dole (R-Kansas) won the state’s GOP caucuses — the later nominee George H.W. #Bush finished a distant third. In an interview with Meet the Press the day before the caucuses, Dole joined Meet the Press and was asked whether he could survive a loss in the state.

I worked for Bob Dole when he ran in 1996, and that man was one of the greatest Americans of the 20th century. Think of the America we would be living in now if only we had elected him instead of Bubba, and his wife, President Clinton.
