Polar bears are spotted often in Churchill, Canada, but this year, government officials say they saw more than twice as many bears in town compared to 2022. Geoff York with Polar Bears International says a lack of sea ice due to climate change is the problem. NBC News’ Anne Thompson takes us there for a closer look at the situation.

20 years ago NBC said polar bears would be extinct by now so I'm amazed you're even doing this story
Long term we will extinct them. BUT in the meantime we can do something. Canada needs to start supplementing their diet. They need to start air dropping cow carcasses miles away from town. This will help the bears make it till the sea ice comes and it will draw them away from town instead of to the town.
