I'm sorry this happened to you all. Bottom line, greed is what caused this fire. Bottom line, the power should have been shut off due to the high winds, and the alarms should have been sounded. Tsunami's are rare, those alarms should be for all uses.

If you go on google street view and look at all these neighborhoods that burnt they are all surrounded by knee-high dead grass. When you live in a coastal environment where winds exist you just can't have that. Same with above ground power lines. We place them underground in ohio why would hawaii and CA where wayyy higher winds exist not do the same?
They really need to look into pumps built for chlorine or acids and just use massive monitors pulling from the ocean.
Hawaiian Electric is at Fault…They should of cut the Power off…the Night before….if they had done their job it would been very different…..They the city didn't even Blow the alerts…. They Let Lahaina Burn…It is like they let it happen… because a lot of us know…they wanted this Town because they wanted to make a Smart City….?..Why Lahaina?…The Historic pat of the island?.. we must ask?
If you make a request to your leaders, and they don’t listen. They are not your leaders. This is a wake up call. Time to elect new leaders. One who have the best interest of the people in mind. Not their back pockets. This is a failure of leadership. People need to be held accountable for this failure in leadership. How sad, I pray for each and every one of you affected by this horrible event.

Freak weather does damage. You cant and shouldn't sue anyone over freak weather. Its only going to get worse in the coming decades so WE ALL need to own up and take responsibility. Its a commu ity effort not the responsibility and the fault of any one company, government leader, etc.

When you consider that President Biden has been through a fire in his home, you know that he really sympathies with these people and will do what it takes to provide all the optics needed to show that the level of sympathy is truly high.

When you pick a location to live be smart. Dry side ok for beach, play the day, no live there. I know I did. Get stuck on the road to Lahaina cuz fire, all the time.
