Experts are issuing warnings over the use of IV drips at a growing number of medical spas, saying that some of these facilities can operate with little oversight, which could lead to serious consequences for patients. NBC News’ Erika Edwards reports on the dangers and regulations of some of these procedures.

Experts… You mean the medical community wants their money. The filthiest place you will ever walk into is a hospital. IV infections at the hospital are a constant problem. Hospital acquired infections are rampant. If not why would you have to sign several forms when you walk into a hospital or into a medical facility relieving them of any legal obligation. I’ve been in a medical surgical industry for over 30 years and it is always a problem. I love how you don’t quote your experts and you talked to one woman. How about a study that shows the difference between the spa and the hospitals. Once again your science is flawed. I’m not defending spas But sweet Jesus hospitals have IV teams that have only the basic of training. One of the most dangerous places that you can be is in a hospital. I fought for years not to have people that could swallow a pill automatically get an IV. Once you pierce the skin you have a direct route for infection. It is such a dogmatic practice to have IVs even though the patient can take oral meds eat and drink. This is going to take a complete change of ideology.
Part of the problem is that patients that have an unexpected allergic reaction to an injection or IV drip is that if there isn’t a doctor or a nurse around, then what? The cosmetician make-up girl doesn’t know what to do. Neither would the front desk receptionist.
