Just before Christmas, an Ohio couple was surprised by their seven adult grandchildren showing up for a sleepover. NBC News’ Peter Alexander has more on how the video of the reunion has sparked a heartwarming trend.

I lost my grandmother when i was 19😢. You are all so lucky ❤.
My then 90yrold mother was surprised by arrival of 6 of her 8 grown grandchildren (early 20s-30s) who turned up from all across country almost a yr after grandfather died. It was a whole long weekend. They planned it all themselves.
This would be awesome to do to my grandma, don’t know if we all can fit into her house now as adult 😂

Wait…I thought the whole nuclear family thing was a vestige of white supremacy…that's what I was taught in one of my college classes. Things like this, where a bunch of overly privileged whites "surprise grandma" with some "wholesome" sleepover, are incredibly dangerous to people of color. Unfortunately, we cannot stop whites from doing these kinds of things, like celebrating birthdays, holidays, family reunions, etc (yet) but we CAN continue to shame them for doing so. And we can also stop platforms like social media and news outlets from covering these things.
So long as they don’t bring COVID…

I don’t know what the specific trigger was but I lost it. Hard. Brought me back to my maternal grandmother’Grammy’ whom we lost almost 50 years ago. I sure could go for a cup of hot tea and honey on that backyard swing with her again. Core memory.

There's a huge hole in my heart since she passed please hug them and love them not one day passes where I don't stop and remember her most days I shed a tear still for her it's something I'll never get over
