United Airlines finds loose bolts on several Boeing aircrafts during inspections



United Airlines said its inspections found loose bolts on several Boeing 737 Max 9 aircrafts. It come after a panel blew out during an Alaska Airlines flight.

  1. Kudos to United for not holding back and saying what they've found. I'm sure Boeing probably tried to bribe them to prevent any public disclosure of their findings. I've never liked United as an airline, especially after that harrowing story of a passenger getting dragged out, but credit where credit is due. Airlines should team up and demand for a full refund from Boeing. Pilot and flight attendants should also refuse to fly any 737 MAX plane and so should passengers. We've been all misled on the safety of the 737 MAX series. The entire Boeing board and Dave Calhoun need to be ousted ASAP! These people need to be held accountable for their arrogance and greed based decisions once and for all!!

  4. Here we go again. Now it the Boeing MAX 9……..Lets not forget the Boeings MAX 8….."The first crash, in October 2018, involved a 737 Max 8 operated by Indonesia's Lion Air that killed 189. The second incident was in March 2019, when an Ethiopian Airlines flight, also a 737 Max 8, crashed minutes after take off, killing 157 passengers". Excuse given – "design flaws, in particular the use of flight control software known as MCAS". So 346 people lost their lives, boeing pays in fines $2,936 million plus $1.77 billion to compensate for the loss of life and suffering endured by the families. Boeing has a net worth of $140.39 billion so is there any concern on the part of boeing for the people who travel via Boeing?

  9. This is has nothing to do with sabotage or YT domestic terrorism. Neither do the explosions due to “gas leaks” or the car that “accidentally” drove into the White House gates. It’s all random group of events that has nothing to do with the election or political violence. 🧐

  11. This is very traumatizing. Until you've been one of those passengers who is facing a sudden and dangerous situation, you will never know the after effects of something like this.

    I haven't flown in 10 years and this just adds to my list of why I have no desire. Even if it's safe, there are situations like this that would traumatize me with an already existing fear of flying from flying during hurricane katrina..no thanks!

  12. This particular news segment doesn't say WHERE the loose bolts were found.
    Maybe they found some loose bolts in the galley/kitchen … they didn't say.
    Naturally we're meant to assume they were found at the plug-door, but they don't say it.
    All I see in the description or hear in the newscast is that they were found "on the aircraft."

  15. Those nuts are castellated. The bolt is drilled and should have a cotter pin or safety wiring securing it. I'm guessing there were no bolts installed. Even if loose they should not have come out. The aircraft skin and interior fittings was all that was keeping it in. Would be interesting to hear what the inspection on the opposing door revealed.

  22. In this case, it doesn't really matter, because the bolts are secured with cotter pins. Not desirable, but wouldn't have resulted in the loss of the panel if the pins are installed.

  29. The Torque Settings were wrong .

  30. No theory has been proffered so far as to the possibility, indeed the probability, of a particular constructor at Boeing who just didn't do his or her job. Or used a faulty torque wrench. I am dubious that Boeing will even release this information to the public, if so.

    More planes are being discovered with loose bolts. So, is there or is there not one person in common with all of them? Because everything is internally logged by Boeing.

    People who do not have a background to understand aviation design and fabrication, will generally not understand the extensive engineering design, analysis, and testing that goes into these matters — and no less so for fasteners of all types, no matter how "trivial". I understand the bolt in question was a high-tensile bolt, with a cotter pin duly affixed through a castellated nut. Under normal use, it's not going anywhere.

    These bolts just do not "unscrew themselves". It doesn't work this way — well, not if everything is done per specification, including torqueing it to specification. Each and every one; each and every time.
