  1. This is sad but by the exact standards the individual was in the rehab so that actually is really good news and hopefully the guy will completely rehab and he will no longer be a drug addict and the death of the unknown individual will serve as a reminder to help that literally could have been him that died

  2. Oh, something like that happened to a friend of mine in the 1990s out here in California.

  3. If Tyler is alive, then whose vase of the body ashes belong to at his cousin’s house for three months?!

  4. This is crazy but the person was carrying his ID. That being said they should always do fingerprint ID or dental

  5. Well that’s going to be a hefty lawsuit!

  6. What happen to dental work ID?

They thought they knew who they had so why not get the dental records?

Why go on a pice of paper, that is easily lost, no photo on it.

Then again, why didn’t the police pull up the number and look at the photo to compare?

Someone really took a short cut and what, went home early?
    Went Christmas shopping?

  7. Nahhh they got his reboot card.

  8. So who’s in the urn????

  9. Maybe it's a mortuary scam. That is a pretty nice container.

  10. So the cremated person was a thief who stole his wallet? I guess next time thieves need to remember to get rid of IDs when they stole stuff or else when they die people will think they are someone else.

  11. Soo wonderful to have her brother back and to have not thrown his ashes over the ocean or out of an airplane or something. I mean your brother’s been in rehab he’s getting his life back the. old man’s dying new man’s alive. How wonderful!

  12. So wait a minute, why would they give permission for cremation without seeing their loved one? Now they're surprised!

  13. how did the family not see the body?

  14. I would be hilarious that the original dead man was actually a person of a totally different race 😂

  15. Makes you wonder how many others' family members might be alive or dead, because until this was 'caught' they did not take steps to ensure they had correctly identified the deceased.

  16. Weird, the thief got a new identity

  17. So we gonna pretend like it's not Tyler fault? The dude hasn't contacted his family or friends in months.

  18. Before any cremation they need to take DNA samples, fingerprints, and dental x-rays, plus photographs of all ID and personal effects found with the deceased.
Cross check all these against previous records to confirm identity before notifying next of kin.

  19. I wish I could get such a phone call.
    But it never happens.😔

  20. Hmm… good way to fake your death

  21. If family cannot make the trip to the body, what about FaceTime with the body?

  22. Wow, nbc and their twisted affiliate msnbc are laying off employees. Horrible ratings due to the American people being aware of one sided media perhaps? Watch a non partisan news source for more.

  23. LOL – they didnt fingerprint the body before they cremated it! Portlandia is always AWESOME!

  24. at least the dead man's remains were cared for by this family till he was reunited by his own !

  25. I’d like to see the victims face and chases face comparison to see where the mix up happened. They must look so similar.

  26. They're going to make fingerprints required for ID everywhere in US and use stories like this as the reason.

  27. So, this family doesn't check on family…

  28. Wish this could of been my news

  29. Although a happy ending, this story sounds like psyop propaganda for the need to microchip society.

  30. Medical Examiner: Your cousin died and was cremated, but he is feeling much better now.

  31. He made a retURN, it seems…..

  32. LAWSUIT FOR EMOTIONAL DAMAGES

  33. Now imagine how many "dead" people are walking around every major city in the US.

  34. And he will have a nightmare now that he's been identified as dead.

  35. Both families need to sue the medical examiner over deception, grief, and mistaken identity

  36. Stole his wallet. LOL

  37. Hmm. I wonder if the ME actually knows the identity of the deceased. No finger prints or dna for confirmation. Bizarre to say the least.

  38. Going forward? Seems like that would be the minimum this whole time.

  39. So if they were going by the driver’s license, couldn’t they tell from the ID pic that it wasn’t the same person?

  40. So not all bodies are identified by family before cremation? That doesn’t make sense especially since the family seems involved and have the ashes. If they weren’t available at the time, they could have waited for the family before cremating the body.

  41. The only kind of people today that don't ever make mistakes are the ones already 6 feet down.

  42. Why did the dead guy have Tyler’s ID? Pretty crazy.

  43. If I was Tyler, i’d b mad AF! Imagine faking ur death not owing any money or living TAX FREE!

  44. ok but PBS just posted a story about police departments running people over and burying them behind the station, wallet and everything: https://youtu.be/6K2PqBm1bjE?si=ytCz5c2TfAV0uA43
