  1. Since 1895, i.e. nearly130 years, Taiwan has not had a common government or history with Mainland China. 1895-1945: Japanese rule, while in Mainland China Emperor, Revolution and Sun Yatsen governance, civil war between Nationalists and Communists, and Sino-Japanese war. 1945-1949: Civil war between Nationalists and Communists on the Mainland, on Taiwan clashes between KMT nationalist rule mainlanders who had come over, and local people in Taiwan, culminating in February 28 1947 incident and massacre. 1949: Mao declares PROC, Chiang Kai-shek flees to Taiwan and makes exile ROC government in Taipei under KMT rule. Since that time, PROC and ROC just each had their own internal development.

  2. 🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼

  3. Do not be afraid Taiwan the world is behind you!

  4. Peace offered by China at the expense of freedom among neighbors can never be acceptable. Chinese Kung Fu masters who think they could fly just like in the movies will never accept such defeat from Democratic neighbors. Remember that China may never run out of ammo in any case of a shooting war but Beijing have just forgoten that it's 1.9 B population are heavily dependent on food import. ❤️🇹🇼

  5. We all live in a world that is never fair because humans are FALLEN

  6. Freedom is never free . There is a very high price to pay that cost LIVES ARD THE PEOPLE WILLING TO SACRIFICE LIVES FOR FREEDOM😢

  7. The USA 🇺🇸 weapons store is ALWAYS open 24/7
    (Pathetic in my opinion)

  8. But when leaders want INDEPENDENCE THAN THE BIG BOYS SAY NO AND ARE WILLING TO GO TO WAR AT ALL COST. HISTORY HAS PROOFEN THAT😢

  9. If you look at the numbers, the DPP only won less than 41% of the votes.
The majority of the Taiwanese actually rejected the DPP agenda.

The third candidate is a clown. He split the vote for the DPP.

  10. Taiwan is a country, Pooh Bear!

  11. Well you just invited China to war with!😂😂😂

  12. if the Taiwanese citizen are giving truth how the Taiwan natives were tortured doing the Chiang invasion of Taiwan after forcing their way from China mainline. this whole episode is about FAMILY FRAUD between the Mao and the Chiang. i strong urge the Taiwanese citizens to stop their ideology different with the China mainland. is it worth dying for the corruption of the Chiang dominance and hold the Taiwanese hostage for their selfish motive? trading between the China mainland and Taiwan province is the most logical sense without losing innocent lives. when the dust is settled, who will shoulder the seer stupidity and careless action by the Taiwanese corrupt official?

  13. The people of Taiwan has made a choice. Will they be allowed to vote if they want independence or reunification in a referendum someday?

  14. Love you ❤️💕😘
    Be Vegan Make Peace
    Thanks God bless you 🙏💕🙏

  15. This election is a water mark for Taiwan future, a future that is dragged through the coal by western propaganda and they will ultimately pay the price for their foolishness. The TPP is the sensible party that can unite both Taiwan and China on a win win path. Not DPP nor KMT.

  16. We who lived and worked in China could have told Bill Clinton that sponsoring China – a totalitarian militaristic dictatorship— into the WTO would pay for the greatest military expansion and spy network in history. Isn’t building its military and spies the first thing every totalitarian militaristic dictatorship does with extra money? Since China joined WTO we have seen the greatest transfer of wealth since 1492. What tech Chinese didn’t steal, your CEOs, and your elected politicians gave away — knowing they’d bail out with a golden parachute (before anyone was wiser). China took over the South China Sea right under Obama’s nose without firing a shot. Japanese achieved the same result in 1942 but only after attacking Pearl Harbor and all countries bordering the S China Sea. Obama made it easy for China. (I voted for my law school professor Obama twice.) Blaming Nixon for a one hour meeting with Mao 30 years before Clinton sponsored China into the WTO is as logical as blaming Columbus for me stubbing my toe this morning. It’s typical Dem professional victimhood. “Passing the buck” was supposed to end with the great Dem president Truman. The opposite is what we see today (woke, always offended culture, reparations for African selling African in Africa over 400 years ago)

  17. Taiwan is democracy, China is a communist. Taiwan people voted for freedom

  18. The CCP boosted their election by threatening occupation.

  19. The ABC News is a fake news media. A mouth piece for the War monger Washington. Make money by bad mouth China

  20. Proud of the Taiwaness people embracing freedom and democracy

  21. Do you support the independence of Crimea and Donbas?

  22. Taiwan does not need to declare independence.
ROC in Taiwan has always been separate and independent from the PRC.
This is why majority Taiwanese support status quo = de facto independence as ROC. International community just need to recognize this fact.

  23. Xi's "Runification" based on "historical ownership" is total nonsense not supported by historical fact.

The idea of "China" as a nation-state did not emerge until the end of the Manchurian Empire. ROC, Republic of China, was declared on Jan 1, 1912, as a revolution against the Manchurian Empire. PRC, People's Republic of China, was established on October 1, 1949. Which country has "legitimate" rights for Taiwan based on "historical ownership"?

This is a very dumb question. But just let us accept for the moment the premise that a country could have "historical ownership" rights to a piece of territory, let us look at the history of Taiwan.

The "native people" of Taiwan never did have much say about what foreign powers who came to take over parts of Taiwan as their territories.

The Dutch (Dutch East India Company and its army) occupied the coastline of the southern half of Taiwan from 1624 – 1662.

The Spaniards colonized northern Taiwan, around 1/67 – 1/7 of the Taiwan Island, calling it "Spanish Formosa", starting in 1626. In August 1642 the Dutch drove out the Spaniards and took that north Taiwan territory.

Zheng Chenggong 鄭成功, a Southern Ming general defeated the Dutch outposts on Taiwan in 1661 and established the Kingdom of Tungning 東寧國.

In 1683, Qing (Manchurian Empire) defeated the Kingdom of Tungning 東寧國 in the Battle of Penghu 澎湖海戰 and proceeded to rule over the western and northern part of Taiwan, less than half of the total Taiwan Island.

In 1895, Qing ceded its Taiwan territory to Imperial Japan which ruled over the entire Island.

After Japan surrendered to the Allies at the end of WW2 on September 2, 1945 Republic of China ROC (KMT) took over Taiwan under military rule. The Civil War between the KMT and the CCP resumed in 1946. CCP chairman Mao Zedong proclaimed the establishment of the People's Republic of China (PRC) on 10/1/1949. KMT started to retreat to Taiwan and completed the retreat by December 1949. On December 7, 1949, ROC in Taiwan declared itself the government-in-exile of China. Japan finally relinquished its territorial claims to Taiwan in the Treaty of San Francisco, which was signed on 9/8/1951 and came into effect on 4/28/1952. Both ROC and PRC were not present at the negotiation and signing of the Treaty. At that time, there was no consensus which "China" should be present.

In total, according to current estimates, a migration of between 900,000 and 1,100,000 people must have taken place to Taiwan from the China mainland between 1945 and 1955. The prior population of the island, at the end of Japanese rule, is estimated as 6,500,000. Of these, the Japanese subpopulation of about 500,000 were mostly repatriated by 1946.

There was a native "kingdom" on the west coast of Taiwan, which the Dutch called Middag, date of establishment unknown and ended in 1732. This "Kingdom" was probably not a "kingdom." It might be a confederacy of tribes. When the Dutch invaded Taiwan and later conquered the Spain colony in northern Taiwan, this group of natives had managed to resist the Dutch army and remained self-administered. In Chinese records this "kingdom" is called 大肚王國, "Big Belly Kingdom" (no kidding), based on geographical landmark 大肚溪, Big Belly River. In 1661, Zheng Chenggong 鄭成功 arrived at Taiwan and drove out the the army of the Dutch India Company an established the Kingdom of Tungning 東寧國. But defeating the Big Belly Kingdom turned out to be tough. In one battle, a whole 500 men regiment was killed by the tribesmen. In a brutal battle in in 1670 Zheng's army almost wiped out the whole Papula 巴布拉 tribe. In 1731 a large-scale tribal uprising against Qing rulers lasted for almost a year. Qing dynasty sent in its regiments from Fujian Province 福建省 and squashed the rebellion, with much blood shed and eradicated the Big Belly Kingdom.

There was a very short-lived Republic of Formosa 臺灣民主國 that existed on Taiwan in 1895 between the formal cession of Taiwan by the Qing Dynasty to the Emperor of Japan by the Treaty of Shimonoseki 下關條約 / 馬關條約. When news of the treaty reached Taiwan, some "Qing Dynasty Chinese" decided to form an independent republic and resist Japan. It was proclaimed on May 23,1895 and Japanese troops conquered it on October 21. The Republic lasted only 151 days.

CCP likes to throw claims of "historical ownership" on territories including, and not limited to, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tibet, and territories in dispute with Vietnam and India.

Putin has exerted his "historical ownership" claims to Crimea and Ukraine, and you know what other countries he would like to exert that claim if he has the means to do so.

Such claims are plain absurd. Just imagine Mongolia, Japan, Tibet, India, Britain, Spain, Netherlands, Mexico…etc. exerts their "historical ownership."

Just imagine what the USA would be like when Britain, Spain, France, Mexico, Portugal, Belgium, and native Americans exert their "historical ownership" based on history, or unequal, unjust, and fraudulent treaties, or unequal, unjust, and fraudulent territory transactions.

Furthermore, making such "historical ownership" claims frequently implies an implicit recognition of the legitimacy of gaining a piece of territory by force. A country's territory or part of it was almost always gained by force sometime in history. So, when another country gains a piece of territory from you, it would have immediate legitimate ownership of that piece of territory you just lost.

I am not saying that history should not be a factor to consider in territorial disputes, or historical grievances, or historical injustices, but just because one's county (or some precursor of that country) "owned" a piece of territory some time in the past should not be and could not be the main and determining factor.

  24. "Most people do support having some form of relationship with Beijing."
Says ABC News. Which is completely untrue. This pro-communist, pro-China, leftist channel.

  25. Dictators gonna try to dictate 😂

  26. Leftist mainstream media in America, are pro-Communist and pro-China.

  27. While the government's are screaming for war the people are screaming for peace. Hear what the people want.

  28. Taiwan people do not have to fight for freedom. They simply become the colony of US and receive freedom.

  29. Emperor Xi sits on the dragon throne and demands you show deference. Submit and pay tribute.

  30. 'Nobody wants war, nobody wants to fight' is so true. People just wanna live their lives in peace

  31. The votes are in and Lai Ching-te is taking it!

  32. Open Google Earth and locate China and Taiwan. Now locate North America then Hawaii and US Samoa.

China's sea border neighbours have collaborated with China in the silk road for thousands of years.

In Hawaii a bomb is the sound of a splash dive at Waimea Bay rock and in Savai'i the splash at Afu Aau waterfall.

Who is the western media trying to fool?

  33. War can be prevented if not started

  34. 🤣😂 He only got 40% of the votes! 60% didn't vote for him due to other 2 party splitting the votes! 🤣😂

  35. Congratulations to Lai Ching-te and a free, peaceful, democratic Taiwan. From USA 🇺🇸💕🇹🇼

  36. China believes an independent, democratic and successful Taiwan will encourage dissatisfaction with authoritarianism in China.

  37. Amen! No war! You are a nation that values human life. Dictatorship is evil.

  38. It's true, nobody wants war or wants to fight. But if it must happen to protect freedom and democracy, many will step up and that includes myself.

  39. Nobody wants to live under China rule who needs a dictatorship and authoritarian rule?

  40. The real reason for CCP's invasion is that the very existence of a democratic, free, & prosper Chinese country is a threat to CCP's legitimacy of ruling over its people. CCP is in desperation trying to stop the awakening of Chinese people. It has nothing to do with whether Taiwan is a part of China or not. Taiwan has never been a part of China. This is simply a historical fact if you read the real Taiwan history, not the one CCP created. This "reunification" BS is a pure lie that has been repeated so many times that people start to believing it.

  41. Taiwan Democracy in action despite threat of war is looming large at the background. 😍😍
