An awful blow for democracy, and once again Trump destroying it. The Primaries are the only real election in the U.S. where people actually have a choice of many viable candidates, and where candidates are called out to explain themselves. Of course all the politicians would love to dump the Primaries. They aren't for the candidates, they are for the VOTERS. And Trump is training people to say, "I don't care about that anymore".
The one-on-one partisan matchup at the end is exactly that. Nobody really has a choice in the main election. They always vote for one side or the other, regardless of person.

It was abundantly clear that these debates are pointless even after the first one. Trump has more support from his own party than the Democrat incumbent. It's long past time to put the primaries behind us and pivot towards the general election, towards defeating Biden and his corrupt regime.
