Marine veteran Rick Machamer used his skills from the battlefield to reunite a girl and her beloved dog, tracking down the person who stole the pet. NBC News’ Catie Beck shares the heroic story.

Great story!!!! More stories like this from the news media please. Stop trying to scare us constantly and give us more happier stories. I'm sick of hearing about how terrible the world is nowadays and how scared I should be all the time and how many people are getting abused and arrested and killed then anything else you can show us that scares the crap out of everybody you just keep on putting stories like that and I will stop watching.

Thank you for your service sir! You are a true hero. I lost a few dogs to theft, it is the most heart wrenching thing to happen to a dog lover. One that broke my heart, was my female Doberman named princess who got Parvo, which is usually a death sentence for a dog, but I found a vet who was willing to work on her after three weeks in the veterinarian hospital she survived and I bought her home and she had medication she had to take, the very next day I had to go to the store when I came home someone broke into my home and took both of my Doberman puppies. I know the thief didn’t know that one of them needed medication. So this guy is a true hero to help this little girl get her baby back!

I swear some of these generations love luxurious things to the point they will steal it try to pawn it of just to get funds look how many dog shelters are around with dogs waiting to be adopted you want to go around committing petty crimes till the petty crimes become big ones, then when your killed your family blames the police.

We seriously need strong "dog napping" laws. These creeps are kidnapping family members with no real repercussions. Shootings, strong arm robberies, ransoms and I'm sure murders have happened over pets as well. When will congress protect our pets?

This happened to me! My neighbor stole my Yorkie and then dumped him in a shelter 2 hours away after trying to sell him online to someone I knew!!! Fortunately I had immediately posted flyers all over and that person reached out to me, when I knocked on her door she immediately put my pup into a backpack and got into her car and drove off, police said they couldn’t do anything because she wasn’t doing anything bad.
Fortunately he is chipped and the shelter called me right away and said he was dropped off over night! 😢 I was DEVASTATED she had him for 3 days I did not sleep at all!!! 😢
