Labor moves. Fire your high pay people. Rehire cheap replacements trained to their standards. Make people desperate enough, they'll cut their own wages to compete for the crap job. Company keeps production and profits up, workers make up the difference. If not, raise prices… You know what? Raise prices, too. What are they really gonna do about it?

Minimum wage and AI are two major factors. Why would businesses pay entry level workers $15 per hour? By pushing minimum wage the state forces them to lay off labor. AI replacing both blue and white collar workers: from the market cashier and fast food workers to business and analytics experts as well as programmers. Teachers are in the next wave maybe in 5-10 years as AI driven schools pop up everywhere.

So I work for a federally funded supported transit company and instead of offering overtime they’re over hiring so there’s no way they could pay overtime. Fantastic economy isn’t it?
