In every case there is a pretrial hearing. What goes on, both lawyers present to the judge what is and what is not allowed. The reason why this is done to prevent a trial to be intentionally a hung jury, mistrial or an acquittal for bad information. For example Kyle Rittenhouse's lawyer was told he could not say something to the jury during the trial but he did it anyway and got Kyle Rittenhouse off with murder. In that same state the Derek Brooks trial, where he killed 6 people in the Christmas Parade tried to do the same in court and each time the judge removed the jury from the court room because it was already discussed what he could and could not say. Alina Habba knew by going that route she could have lowered the amount trump was going to pay, lawyers don't care about who they represent, its about winning. So they play the game and their clients pay on both sides which is why trump never pays his lawyers. Alina Habba is really do this to get noticed because trump is not paying her a dime.
