Cash discounts have long been common at gas stations, but recently more businesses have begun offering discounts for those paying with cash. The number of cash purchases with a discount has soared 66 percent between 2015 and 2022. NBC News’ Christine Romans has the story.

In India, it's the opposite, you get discounts when you pay online😆😆😆. It's been weeks since I have held cash in my hand
Business owner here: David’s Game Lounge, Perris, CA
One reason why we prefer cash (at least my reason) is because there are fees with business loans. Can go from 2% – 18% of sales depending on the creditor and amount you borrow. With cash – you can pocket all the sales, reinvest in the business and make things easier to pay off.
A perk to cash is you don't have to face the trauma of having the tablet turned back to you and demanding a 25% tip just because you ordered a coffee. I can just pay my drink and be on my way
they should offer a 100% discount for customers paying in cash
Some Gas Stations are doing this! Ask them first?
I like the idea
lol just accept crpyto the US $$ is as good as toilet paper
NOOOOOOO. Really??? For 30 years I've been telling people that cash is king. This is why I'm rich and 7.9 million people in my region are poor.
Thought this was considered "illegal" or business were not allowed to advertise different prices due to payment methods ???
Money laundering 101
Cash is KING! Every time you do credit it ask you to leave a silly tip or places require you to spend X amount to use a card!
I always use cash. If need be I will stop by an ATM and get the money I need in advance.
for all my american fellows why would a business pay 33 ,000 dollars to a credit card company ffs
The customers paid in cash and businesses will paid the employees in cash too. Win-win.
I,m thinking about adding paper fiat options on my website. I pay with $10.00 bills, $100.00 bills & request change with all other denominations
Carrying the amount of cash it takes today to pay is down right dangerous! 🕵🏿♀️💲💲💲⬇️😬😬☠️
& no discount I use a card so they pay more..
Even if I use a card, I tip with cash.
Biden destroyed the credit rating of the country
I run a towing company and I always offer discounts for cash payments
I go to a restaurant that their computer tells them to offer a discount for cash. They over ride it and charge the credit price. Still shows up on the computer si just feels icky dealing with them.
BEST TO USE BITCOIN
Its not about tax dodging by the restaurant or others. It's about avoiding the credit card companies. They take a 1.5 – 3.5% cut. Plus it incentivizes people to come in, increasing business. Can it be used to avoid taxes to the gov't? Certainly, but that requires significant oversight and a set of secondary books to make all the money flows match. If they don't, then a forensic audit will catch you, and you'll end up losing. It's just not worth it. What are you going to put down? You bought food for a full restaurant, paid for a full staff for full shifts, yet declared only the money you get from 80%? Auditors will ask why. If not on the food, then why the staffing levels.
Try finding a atm with your bank oops. The atm is out of order.
Cash is and will always be king🤴
The left will not like this
