Trump has already made an appeal bond to the first civil case of $5 m. The appeal bond is the actual judgment plus interest to be held by the courts until the appellate courts rule on the case. He needs to have another appeal bond for the $83.3 m if he appeals this case. He would need a third appeal bond for the NY business fraud case of $370 m when the penalty judgment is made next week.
It will be overturned on appeal,this is just a Deep State hit job on a political opponent with no facts at all.

The prior defamation verdict charging Trump $5 million didn't deter him from repeating the offense for even a few hours. Given the wealth Trump asserts he had, I believe the punitive damages were increased in the hopes that a more proportional fee would deter him from continuing his defamation of her going forward. The monetary figure shocks people when compared with more typical incomes, but not if you compare it to punitive damage awards in cases against corporations who have significant assets.
