I was molested by a dental surgeon as a little girl. I was sent to him by the orthodontist to have some lower gum removed for braces. The orthodontist was later buddies with my brother in law. I was alone in the room with him during the procedure and anesthetiic, and no nurse no family. I woke myself up somehow and my shirt was sopping from sweat. and surgical string was hanging out my mouth He was on the other side of the room looking then shocked. I do not know what happened to get me out of there but many years later I sought his name from the orthodontist and the dental board. What came back to me was my file was lost in a flood in their basement and I was shunned as usual by my family. The shock that people experience in violation renders us catatonic. Peace to the World.
There must have been loads of women abused by Gynaecologists and men abused by Urologists. There are medical specialities that should be gender sensitive. Many women go to see male gyn because they have heard that they are the best. How can a man know women's body that a woman or the other way around for Urology.

He deserves more than 20 years. It shouldn't have taken 10 years to prosecute. The medical community needs more oversight. And Columbia? For trying to cover it up, ignore it, you deserve the lawsuit. When will you learn that the cover up always comes out??? And it will make it worse for you. Shame on you all.

After being assaulted by a male doctor at age 16 and then again assaulted by a male massage therapist in my 40’s I will never have a male professional near me without a chaperone

Such a FAILURE. These women are everyday heroes and I have much respect for the time, effort and emotional energy this took away from their roles as entrepreneur, employee, mother, daughter, sister, wife, aunt, friend, neighbor, volunteer. Thank you for clearing a path so hopefully our daughters will be safer in this world. 🙏🏼
I really like the idea of having a written ‘normal’ exam. Shame women have to insist that be a standard because of doctors such as this. Nothing but live and respect for these Front Liners who spoke up ❤

I had few male gynaecologist, in different countries, always asked female assistant in the room, I never trust man…..
I do have compassion for these women. I do not want my comments to diminish their abuse. BUT women need to advocate for themselves with all doctors. If you question a doctor’s behavior and they do not respond to your concerns. LEAVE. Find another doctor. I went to get a Pap smear and the doctor used antibacterial gel before putting on gloves. I asked her to wash her hands before using gel and gloves. She paused and gave me an annoyed look but she could not argue that hand washing was a better protocol and my comfort and concern was important. Doctors are just human beings with medical training. They are flawed like the rest of us.

I'm sorry, but males should not be gynecologists. I understand some of the older ones continuing their careers but it just doesn't make sense in this day and age when we have plenty of women who can do the job better and without this kind of threat.
Women are going to a male doctor and spreading their legs wide open. What they expect? Especially if the doctor is a predator.
Going to a male OBGYN is a big mistake in its own. I don't know how a morally normal male could choose a profession like that!
Maybe we need to reconsider if we want men in our medical spaces since many of us have never been able to fully trust. I once fainted during a vaginal exam with a male dr. another time was being seen by two student doctors who were too shy to look at my breasts, so they just prescribed me a cream and told me to come back if I still had symptoms. Hmm🤔

2. If you must, make sure a female nurse or MA is there!
The REAL story is that Columbia got countless reports that this doctor assaulted them, and swept it under the rug. Hospitals won’t do anything if you report only to them because they don’t want to be held legally liable. Report to the police, the media, and the medical board.
As a woman, I will not see a male doctor unless its urgent.

I’ve been molested by two different gynecologists. One touched my thighs for a long time and the other gave me a breast exam for too long. I stopped getting Pap smear check ups 15 years ago. I’m done
I don’t recall ever being assaulted by a Dr. however vaginal exams are traumatizing!! I have hated them always.

Aren’t they supposed to have a female nurse in there with the doctor during these exams??? I love my OBGYN! There is always a chaperone in there during my exams. It’s awful what these women had to experience.

Glad they were finally believed, theres something extra wrong about people in positions we are required to put trust in abusing people. I know it means nothing im just some random guy in YouTube comments, but i hope all the people who have been abused get justice. As well as finding peace within themselves and healing from this, which obviously takes more than a prison sentence. Stay strong, you all deserve recognition for fighting this to the end.
I make sure all doctors are females. I am saying demale practitioners can't commit crimes but i feel safe with female healthcare or providers.
