Rare look inside El Salvador’s mega prison

Telemundo cameras captured an inside look at a controversial mega prison in El Salvador, which is the largest in Latin America. The prison houses thousands of gang members, some of which were arrested after the country’s president declared a war on crime. Amid the rise in massive arrests and mass trials, NBC News’ Guad Venegas reports that critics are concerned that some prisoners have been unjustly detained without due process.

  1. This is how you treat people like this. People who don’t want to be part of society. You don’t coddle them like we do in. the US

  2. Scary how many people in this comment section are cheering on a literal dictator declaring martial law and indiscriminately locking people up in inhumane conditions with no due process.

If this happened in America, you all would be raging.

  3. Human rights group should be locked up too 😂

  4. Everyone saying we need this in America. America won't elect someone so young. These old politicians won't have it. Their president is building for his people's future. American politicians want to go back to 50's and 60's. The past is over. The entire government is too old to run America. That's why it's falling apart

  5. We need a Bukele in 🇬🇹, we are still living in fear from all the crime that keeps happening 💔 as 🇬🇹 we dream of the day they our home (🇬🇹) will become safe as El Salvador 🇸🇻.

  6. Bravo, im not el salvadorian, but as a human i am proud of how this man brought peace and order to his country

  7. u.sa and mexico needs this president !

  8. I am in Australia 🇦🇺
We support my president 🙌 nayid bukele el salvador 🇸🇻 all the way

  9. Good, here in the US crime is a business that's why they won't stop crime in the states.

  10. Let's do that in the U.S. too!

  11. Is it nice this time of year? Sounds like the safest place in the world to visit.👍🏼

  12. Why do these watch groups think their opinion matters. They don’t live in the country and they don’t know what it was like before hand. How about you watch groups go speak to people who care about your opinion. El Salvador and its people couldn’t care less.

  13. All of South America needs lessons on political awareness, just like Venezuela and other corrupt nations , they start off with promising security, VOX did a inside journalism piece of the secret agreement the gangs have with the government, same as in mexico , it’s all for show to make it seem like things are getting done , but in reality they are just operating in shadows .
Governments can’t eradicate organized crime, the best they can do is control it with comprises

  15. Why haven't the international civil rights groups that cry for these criminals opened up their homes and neighborhoods? They're all hypocrites.

  16. There only feeding them what they need to stay alive. Sounds like there getting very little animal protein. And I like how they mixed MS and 18th street together with each other. It’s like making two boys who just fought on the playground hold hands 😂

  17. Bring BUKELE for for California governor’s

  18. The US government should start taking notes and learn from a well run tough prison system in El Salvador. We need a no nonsense policy and zero tolerance on all violent crimes.we really need to clean up our streets.

  19. I love Bukele no BS just getting the job done
