A type of forensic science that has been used to convict people in courts across the country for decades is unreliable at best according to multiple government bodies. The credibility of bite mark evidence has come under increased scrutiny in recent years but it is still used in courts. NBC News Justice Correspondent Ken Dilanian spoke with two men convicted of crimes based on bite mark evidence.

It might be more effective to determine why anyone is being bitten, then eliminate the cause. 🙄
So if bite mark analysis is no longer deemed science then they need to go back through the thousands of cases that were done in the 80's and 90s. This is disgusting
Poor man😢
He should be given billions of dollars in reparation money.
They owe him millions
The parent part hurts. The died and he couldn’t even attend their funeral .
When humans play god bad things happen 😐
Can you believe this would happen in a FREE country?? In such an “Advanced Nation?”😐
Jury trials are about persuasion, nothing more.
There is a long list of supposed types of forensic "science" that has no basis in the scientific method. See bloodstain pattern analysis or the more infamous polygraph. The justice system isn't desgined to get the "right answer", it's designed to get "an answer".
Wasn't Ted Bundy convicted on a bite mark?
Wasn't this how they got ted Bundy convicted?
I know the world doesn’t work like that but it would be neat if the “forensic scientist” had to serve the same term he did now. They stole half of the dude’s life from him..
yeah but russia has two americans in their prison, so lets focus on them instead
This is more common than people think. After a man has been convicted, DNA is no longer tested for that case. Illinois had an innocent man for 53 years in prison for a triple-murder that the husbands hired 2 hit men to carry out the murder and the lead investigator and police chief were paid off by Millionaire husband to wrongly frame an innocent man. Granddaughter proved her grandpa was a corrupted and murderous investigator in his own handwriting.
"A type of forensic science…"
Science? This has never been science, it was a pseudo science at best, like that crap about ancient aliens or ufos that so many Americans believe in. There have never been scientifically credible studies about this, and yet, gullible American jurors have sentenced many innocents to life in their gulag system or even to death for many years. But hey, more than 70% of them also believe in winged people in the sky wearing nightgowns and glorioles…
I love Forensic Files. I also have to believe it went off air because it pushed so much of this junk science. Juries were made up with people who watched shows like that.
Congratulations
Such injustice
Judges aren't scientists, they rely on experts and precedent!!! Just like they shouldn't be ruling embryos are people. 🤷
There's probably more innocent in jail than actual criminals.
I thought they stopped allowing dental evidence a long time ago. They knew it was junk science a long time ago.
Does this mean Ted Bundy was innocent?
Well this is something I can sink my teeth in.
