I'm a retired Union ironworker and I wish not to say which city I work in but they started this diversity hiring garbage a long time ago anytime we would do jobs in the city I would work at they would require that we hire unskilled unqualified people of color or people with criminal records that have no business walking the high iron or doing any form of construction knowing that they have absolutely zero experience but the city would Force us to have these people on the payroll or else we would not have the contract for the construction project it was a shakedown and almost 99% of the people that once they got their first paycheck you never seen him again or they went out and bought drugs or committed another crime to go back to jail or prison a lot of them had attitudes they didn't want to be there trying to learn a trade and after that I retired I am so glad I did they were nothing but a liability on the job and there was only that 1% that really wanted to be there sad to say and we knew who they were and we definitely helped them make it through the program safely
