I see tons of people complaining but it's not as generous as it sounds … There are a ton of "IF"S" attached to this "forgiveness" plan.. That's why only 150,000 qualify… That's 150k out of 43 MILLION… That's not even 1% of total student loans it's like .35% of total student loans….. It's a token gesture doesn't really do anything..
Once again he thumbs his nose at the Supreme Court that said he can not do this but he did it again anyway. Impeach this buffoon!

I wish this applied to me. I’m filing for bankruptcy and that still won’t help me afford my school loans. And bankruptcy doesn’t apply to school loans. My job offers tuition reimbursement, and I was approved with the understanding if I pay $5000 by March (this was last August) I will get $5000 to keep or pay towards my loans. My school told me I had to pay $5000 by December 1st. I got my car stolen and totaled (no insurance due to being dropped for Kia liability reasons) in November and my girlfriends was broken into 3 times the week before (insured). I’ve been paying half my income just to get to work because I can’t afford to make less and where we live the pay is too low for my needs. There’s no bus line to work that will start early enough to get me there on time. So now we are waiting for her car because between us both we are paying almost $3000+ just to get to work plus rent and bills, plus school, I’m 25 and wish I could see the future because these are dark times. But I’m hopeful. I’m hopeful in my motivation to provide for my future wife as well as myself.

Doesn’t solve the rising costs of colleges and universities. When you guarantee income there’s little to no incentive to reduce costs. Which is what we actually need. For profit companies do this all the time they cut costs and run more efficiently. As for the current student loan debtors just pause the interest on their loans. Have them only pay back the principal. Just forgiving student loan debt just creates more future generations of debtors. Also this isn’t free money. It’s going to create more inflation in the economy and affect all of us.

This is wrong. I did not go to college because I did not want to get into all that debt for a piece of paper. Instead, I went in debt for a house. This doesn’t teach young Americans the correct thing to do in their life. By forgiving this debt, you’re essentially saying it’s OK to make a bad financial decision, so long as enough, Americans make the same bad financial decision, the federal government will step in and save you all. This is wrong. This teaches young Americans to rely on the federal government instead of relying on their self. This is just wrong.
