Researchers say ancient scrolls from almost 2,000 years ago, which were buried under layers of volcanic ash from the eruption of Italy’s Mount Vesuvius, have been decoded thanks to a team of engineers and papyrologists who managed to decipher some of the hidden text with the help of artificial intelligence.

More "AI" buzzword.
Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.
Dude, I would have imagined that ink would be totally absorbed by now, That's amazing they were able to do this!
Must be the same people who produce those amazing pictures of galaxies millions of LIGHT YEARS yes the amount of distance light would have traveled in a year millions of times over. I may not be that smart but something tells me it would take millions of years traveling at the speed of light to get to see that far plus travel millions of years of light distance back to show said photos. And if a single person says telescopes just tell me how far you can see in fog let alone the possible millions of other stars and galaxies you would have to see through to see what's beyond. To the point here is we are supposed to believe that paper was able to get covered in hot lava ash not only survive that but also degradation over time and then some computer can again some how see through matter to see text that is supposed to be there. So ai is seeing through layers of matter but some how at the same time can stop at each layer to read the words then continue to see through that layer but only to the next layer to read those words and so on ok cool go science
It’s not a question it’s an analogy.

Great use of AI, unlike all the grifters trying to abuse it for a quick buck lol

Hope the Catholic Church doesn't censor what they don't like ( they did that with the Bible we have today)
Imagine trying to decipher teenage slang in 2000 years off tik tok “cap” “simp” etc. 😂
Maybe some of those missing ancient texts we always see referenced will be found among this library. What a good use of AI, too.
Truly incredible
I was robbed of beautiful seal pups. I want my seal Sara back
Many times AI makes its own stories instead of stating the facts
where can we go to read what has been translated from these scrolls?
This is awesome!
Cool!
Papyrology is a thing …. who knew ?

Ai isnt all that impressive, when There is a dude on the mer that understand and overstand what things come from ❤
Is this the same AI that’s been saying that George Washington and all other major figures from the past are all black? You all should be skeptical of all the alphabet news you keep taking as gospel.
On behalf of humanity, just as one voice.
I am so proud of those who made this happen. This is just impressive.
