Having said all that, if there was no gas tax the UK would have the cheapest gas in the world
$4 for a US gallon translates to $4.80 for an imperial gallon, at $1.35 exchange rate equals Β£3.56 per gallon, which is Β£0.78 per litre. Our fuel is currently about Β£1.45 per litre. These UK prices are roughly the same all over Europe. Therefore US gas prices are about half what we have to pay over here.
