Ice had to be separated from the surface. If melted into the surface and refrozen would have failed. Sounds like these conditions are not uncommon given how many people do just this same trick.

Our leaf blower for shoveling saves us four hours of work. We have a huge deck with a hot tub so we have to clear that and a massive driveway and have an air bnb so we canβt let that go either. It works for light snows or ever two or three inches of snowfall at a time, but it does work with a powerful one. Our is Eco. (Not sure if that is spelled right but pronounced Echo). Why we just tried that this year for the first time I am not sure but so glad we did!
