Surprised that he would even suggest a potential capitulation by Ukraine. Why would they at this point? Every day they fight is one day closer to the abandonment of the campaign by Russia completely. It makes no sense to capitulate otherwise they would have done it immediately and avoided casualties and destruction of infrastructure.

As a combat Officer Veteran, this is my personal opinion:
#1. This is city fighting not in an open field, it will take time to fight house to house, can not be done in one night fighting in the dark.
#2. The General of Russia is not incompetent like some ‘Politics General’ of the U.S, the first wave they send troops in to make an assessment of the strength and weakness of Ukraine, the second wave will be Commando, Special Force to take out the strong units of Ukraine.
#3. The third wave is to finish the force of Ukraine
We salute the Ukrainian people for their courage to fight; however, there is no match with the professional soldiers of Russia. The sacrifices of those Ukrainian is to tell the world that they defend freedom and democracy to the last breath regardless of the European countries and the United States turning their back on them.
