Every time the federal government raises the minimum wage by $1, nearly 200,000 people lose their jobs. If the minimum wage were raised to $15 per hour then roughly 1,550,000 people would lose their jobs; and since Texas hosts over 10% of the population, it means roughly 155,000 people would lose their jobs, or roughly 2% of the population. Which means 1 out of every 50 people currently working and contributing to society would join the ranks of the unemployed and become dependent upon the state and the public for their sustenance. Thomas Sowell, a world-class economist, predicted this would happen when they raised the minimum wage to %7.25 under Obama and his words proved prophetic. His predecessor, Milton Friedman, another world-class economist, predicted a loss of jobs during his time when they raised the minimum wage, and it happened as surely then as it did under Obama. Introducing a minimum wage at all disrupts the natural flow of money and goods in the same way fixing prices crashed the economy of Zimbabwe and many other nations that tried to solve their problems through the arbitrary decisions of incompetent bureaucrats. Governments do not build economies or lead to better jobs, people build a nation by working, investing, and making reasoned choices. All government handouts do is deprive them of their pride and reason to improve themselves, for why improve if you can vote yourself a salary increase at the next election? People subconsciously know it is their choices that led to this through the leaders they elected, yet tell themselves and others they did not support a burglar, but voting for a pickpocket, knowing he will steal from the innocent for their benefit, makes them no less complicit in his crimes. Every time someone else's needs are being provide at the expense of profits of another's efforts, the wealth that was created by the industrious few is destroyed, for the moochers and the looters of this world produce nothing but tears and further corruption in return. Today it is the rich who will pay for bread on their tables and the warmth of their fires, tomorrow the merchants and shopkeepers, then the poor and sick, and finally the dead will pay for the living until there is nothing left to loot. And the more they get, the more they need, and the cycle spirals down towards the end of civilization itself. In less than 2 minutes, we have once again heard another looter endorse the deliberate destruction of his own people with a smile on his face and kind word dripping with honey and promises of gold. But the gold will eventually fade and the honey sour, and when the people have drained the last drop and spent the last coin, and are begging for more, he will raise the wages and benefits again. Bread and Circuses, like the empires of old, the empires that could not save themselves from themselves.
And like them, our time is running out…
