“Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler was questioned by Atlanta police back in January after he tried to withdraw his money from a Bank of America. NBC News’ Blayne Alexander reports from Atlanta on how a report says bank employees thought the 35-year-old was staging a robbery because he handed a note to the teller asking for at least $10,000 from his account.

Actually, in this instance, law enforcement did nothing wrong. The bank did everything wrong.
Not a lot of critical thinking here. I guess someone lost their job following that incident and Coogler is just a little bit richer.

Reminds me of an incident I had in Sicily. I received a check for roughly $7,000 from the insurance company after an Italian destroyed my car and had to go to an Italian bank to cash the check. The teller freaked out and called the carabinari(Italian police), even though they only needed 2 proofs of ID, they asked for my passport, social security card, birth certificate, fingerprints, codici fiscali(like an Italian social security number), proof of insurance, 6 proofs of residency(bills,cell phone account,etc), driver's license,…I just happened to have these documents in my backpack in a binder😎. Nonetheless, they called my bank, AT&T, the US Consulate, my employer, and my insurance. This took over 3 hours! I observed others come in and withdraw similar amounts in that time and none of them had to go through that. At the end of the day, I got my money, smiled at everyone, had a cappuccino with a friend, and lived to write this post. Sometimes "Sabraan Jameela" (Arabic for " a beautiful patience ")helps especially when you are being judged by your appearance(I'm black)in this present construct 😎

The teller must have thought he was Justin Smollet with that hairstyle. The cops shouldn't be blamed. They don't know what's going on and are just following procedure. It wasn't a racist act either. Blame the teller for jumping the gun but give her a break as the whole scenario was suspicious. He could have just told her not to count it like any other normal person and I always remove my sunglasses when entering the bank. He just wanted to be a big shot.

If the teller had his signature on the payment slip, information in his account and he wasn't holding a gun, then the teller needs to be checked….hiw was that a robbery case? She wud hv told him to put down his mask for facial recognition if she wasn't sure rather than tagging him a robber.
Bank of America sucks, they will not let you withdraw over ten grand without a hassle. Maybe America’s banking system is near collapse or shady polices?
