You know what’s funny? The white high-speed bullet bike in this video is fake. Oil companies like British Petroleum sponsor an aerodynamic bicycle about every ten years or so. The objective is to make it look like genuine research is being done to improve fuel economy. So when they talk about this ninety mile per hour bike, they don’t mention the paint job.
A good Teflon coating on the paint will reduce drag by twenty percent. Or in the case of a car, improve fuel economy by twenty percent. But as we all know, nobody sells a car wax which improves fuel economy. That would upset the Mafia. Oh I’m sorry, I meant to say British Petroleum.
MIT made the mistake of releasing a perfectly slick paint coating, and people got really excited. But a month later, the research staff at MIT decided that they didn’t want get buried in a landfill in New Jersey.
