The Chinese have more to gain from Russia losing than Russia winning. India is a Russian client state and the majority of its weapons come from Russia. The Indians aren't anywhere near self-sufficient in arms production and if the supply of weapons from Russia declines that benefits China. India also receives undervalued development loans from the Russians so India's ability to build its infrastructure would become much more expensive without Russian loans and would become an economic drain. If Russia loses and has another revolution it's possible some regions may opt for independence so China could gain buffer/client states on its borders. Lastly, China has become largely self-sufficient in arms production. Although many of their weapons are Russian designs they are built in China and without Russian arms, Chinese arms manufacturers would benefit from a diminished Russian presence in the arms market.

I am against the war, but Biden is showing a lot of weakness, can you Imagine agreeing on every Putin demand and publicly saying he is running away because of the fear of starting a ww3, Putin will work on that fear and get whatever he wants. and mark my words once Ukraine is taken those sanctions will be worthless because Russia will retaliate by cutting of the Gas it sells to Europe and Europe will never stand a price increase on fuel and loosing out 50% of its gas supplier even for a week, to name a few before protests breaks out then it starts lifting sanctions against Russia.
