Workers at an Amazon warehouse on Staten Island will unionize, the first in the U.S. in Amazon’s 27-year history. Of the 4,800 ballots, more than 2,600 favored joining the Amazon Union Labor, formed by current and former employees. The pandemic has fueled labor movements at many big chains, with workers demanding more rights, safety protocols and better benefits.

3 years working for Amazon. Can't no longer work for this company. Emotionally and physically I am not the same person. Excessively repetitive work and high demands on production. Workers are treated like robots and we have no right to complain about anything. Just obey orders from abusive managers who threaten to document you if you don't obey. Could be a good place if they just treat us like people.

This is the beginning.
Companies and businesses are dependent on workers. So, workers are beginning to realize that they can use the threat of mass walkouts as leverage against employers. Unions will evolve into something independent of company contracts and will instead turn into private organizations that monopolize the workforce and ban members from working with companies that do not meet the demands of the organization.

Unions only matter if there are no laws to protect workers. The USA has hundreds of laws to protect workers. Besides, Union might be good if work needed skills or education. Amazon jobs do not require skills or high education. This Union is pointless.

Way to go about organizing the workers ! Finally, part of Amazon is unionized. Take notice all workers at all companies who aren't unionized you need to form unions against the ever increasing greedy, selfish corporations,executives, and shareholders.. Don't believe the bs that a company states that they will take care of you without solidarity of your co-workers because it is just not true. Workers need better working conditions, a safer work environment, higher wages and benefits as well as job security. Let's hope all of Amazon in the country joins unions in addition to all other non-union businesses. Bezo's , like many company executives ,no matter what firm, is a cheap, greedy,self centered, uncaring executive that cannot get enough power and money.
