Personally I'd prefer 4- 10hr day instead of 5 8 hour days. Quality of life would be better. Instead my job wants us to work 6 days 10-12 hrs if work demands it.

I'm older and retired and my entire working life has been replete with forced overtime, 12 hours a day 6 days a week.
I've got a friend, well sort of a friend because of work, whose been working for a company that's had him working 6-12's and an 8 on Sunday for nearly 2 straight years.
Sure, they pay well but when are you going to spend it. It's basically slavery, he has no life outside of work. Oh, did I mention he's also on the night shift.

People really have no understanding what will be the result of this. As long as we dont yet see the wage inflation – which is without a doubt going to come in this environment – workers efficiency is going to go down big time. And the result? A big recession with increasing unemployment.
All I can say is THANK GOD. The burn out you feel in the 5 day work week means you spend the ENTIRE weekend just recovering.

In Illinois, I worked at Edwardsville SIUniversity’s Head Start program. I don’t know if the system they had in place is still going on. Teachers worked with children M-Th with a break, and on Friday, no children. It was a teacher’s workday. It was the best place I ever worked, and the pay was good. I left because I moved out of state.
Even if you have to work 12 hours per day for 4 days per week it makes a big difference. The 4 day work week is just one of many things that can be done to improve life, now onto healthcare, the criminal justice system, cost of living and a few other issues, GOOD START though!!

4 day work week, who benefits? the employer benefits because you then are considered part time, and not entitled to benefits. Same pay but 8 hrs less going into employee pockets. and then inflation comes into play. The employee would benefit if wages were compensated for the lost 8 hrs and benefits not effected .

4 day work weeks are a must. Having Friday and Saturday to LIVE life, and we all know Sundays are rest days aka: Laundry and prepare for the weekdays-day….so Sundays don't really count LOL. But a 4 day work week to a 3 day weekend is exactly how we should be progressing.

4 days work is very suitable for women who need to do a lot of caring, children, parents, shopping, housework etc. I used to be so exhausted after the fifth day, most of the time I would be so numbed from being so tired.
4 day 10 hour days are optimal when my company had that schedule I felt I had more than enough time for a balance!
