In decades past, Democrat politicians wouldn't touch abortion with a ten foot pole, because most voters detest abortion. They did not want to be associated with abortion or gun control back then. It was a different party back then. Today a small minority of extreme far left loudmouths have taken over, and the Democrat party is going down. Years ago everyone in the South were Democrats, but you'd be hard pressed to find one Democrat today. The southern democrats, as they used to say, was a big voting block.
My only hope is that the escalating protests in favor of abortion rights will eventually reach 'critical mass' over time.
