The Hollywood actors’ union is on the verge of a virtual shutdown of the American film and TV industry.
After a month of tense negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and the major studios, talks collapsed at the midnight (PDT) deadline Wednesday, and the union’s negotiating committee unanimously recommended a vote by its national board to call a strike, joining movie and TV writers, who walked out May 2. The vote will be held Thursday morning, and a formal announcement by the actors union is expected at noon PDT; both sides had already extended talks by 12 days after their initial contract expired June 30.

Says the richest people in the world. Im all about protecting artists but all it comes down to is if the actors,rappers,singers,dancers, painters, any other form of and artists expressions agree to get paid then AI will be used and the world will lose all forms of art that tells stories of all of our ancestors part in history. Erasing everything that inspired the next thing and the next thing. It seems like it doesn't matter but it does. AI can do and has been doing alot more than just changing our entertainment. We are only where we are as a society because of items and things and crafts and drawings and written words from personal journals that where where able to learn and build off of and created everything we needed to survive the natural earth elements. Not only survive but thrive and create things we take more for granted today than ever. Without art we might not have the knowledge and luxuries we take for granted to this day. If the actors allow ai as long as there paid for it.. entertainment and a trillion dollar machine dies.. that is if anyone cares enough to understand why ai is a problem that'll be the downfall off all entertainment.

Producers make more money in films because they take on the risk. If actors want a bigger portion of the cut, they should have to take on more risk. For example, if a movie flops, they could give up their salary entirely. Even then, they would not be taking on as much risk as the producers, because the actor would be risking not getting an income. The producer risks not making any money and losing what they already have – potentially double the down side. Small roles as background characters don't get paid much because the role can basically go to anyone else. The movie would not be affected. Low risk and low importance equates to low pay. If you want to make more money, be difficult to replace. If that is not the case, shut up, or get a real job like everyone else. Hollywood is a choice. If you can't make it in Hollywood, do something else. But for the love of God, the victim mentality is an American virus that really needs to be eradicated now. It's amazing how few people outside of Hollywood care about the strike. They've been putting out so much woke trash the last few years. We and our children all need a break anyway.
