Actress Raquel Welch (Jo Raquel Tejada) was born on Sept. 5, 1940, in Chicago, to Armando Carlos Tejada, a Bolivian aerospace engineer, and his Irish American wife, Josephine Sarah Hall. When she was 2 years old, she and her family moved to San Diego. She won teen beauty pageants and later became a local weather forecaster in California. She became one of the most iconic and beautiful actresses of her time.

She was a beautiful girl.
My mother is as old as Ms. Welch was, and has been in a nursing home for quite some time. I have had to learn to dress her and to help keep up her appearance. Raquel Welch's wigs have really helped me over the years, and my Latina mother appreciated the styles. There were no other Latina voices in that particular arena.

RIP, Raquel you were wonderful in everything; we just watched Fantastic Voyage the other night.
Okay, here's another one. I enlisted in the Navy in 1968. I was in Boot Camp at Great Lakes. They screened a movie called "Fathom", an adventure movie about a woman secret agent….as if Raquel Welch could ever be a secret anything. Anyway, the beginning of the movie, there was a scene of Raquel Welch (Fathom) jumping out of an airplane, and when she landed, taking off her jump suit after shucking her parachute. She was wearing a very nice red bikini underneath. It was shown in a giant building, with almost everyone at the base in attendance. Thousands Of 18 year old recruits. Seeing something like that after weeks of marching around and obstacle courses was akin to hormonal torture. She was burned into my brain forever.
We've always liked Raquel and she surely shall be redeemed by Our Savior. I never had the chance to meet her in person, yet we're truly confident she shall be within the Kingdom of God.

On no! I just had a dream about her when I was taking a nap. Weird, I've never dreamed of her before and didn't know she had passed until just now. In the dream, I was working with her and she was climbing a ladder and passed my Dad, also deceased and introduced her to him. He didn't try to touch her but made motion as to shake her hand, he was delighted to meet her. Once she was in a space at the top she told me that once she came down that he was going to kiss her, that men always think that she's supposed to kiss them. I assured her that my Dad wasn't going to try to kiss her and that if he tried to, I'd stop him and would protect her from then on from any man who thought they could just kiss her because of who she is.
Such a gracious and kind beauty is now in the glory of heaven. May the Lord be with her family during this time of grief.

As an American actor/screenwriter, I always admired Raquel Welch for being such a positive role model in showing you can be successful in films and still be modest. She always carried herself with respect and dignity and a refreshing sense of style.. She will be missed..

It's so sad all the people I grew up with are leaving go home. Raquel Welch was an angel Sent From Heaven if you look up the definition of Woman the first word you would read would be Raquel Welch. She had it all and she had always been one of the classiest ladies on the planet.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of her friends and loved ones she will be missed dearly but never forgotten.
