African Americans need to renounce there US corporate citizenship if they are being denied of what they want an establish there own educational institutions. The US establishment have been trying to separate the African American from there historical past of thousands of years including during the trans Atlantic slave trade. Afro-Americans shouldn't even be paying for any educational courses for the next two hundred years in the United States due to the United States laws against African Americans being educated that was used as slaves to the European Invaders now calling themselves Americans on the American continent.

I don't remember anyone saying that teaching about the first woman to do x, y, and z would make little boys hate themselves. Learning about Susan B. Anthony and Rosa Parks never had a cult effect on the boys or the white kids in my class. No one got on their knees begging me for forgiveness, we all walked away thinking how F'ed up the people of the past were and how we wanted to be nothing like them. We walked away cherishing the fact that we weren't in Ruby Bridges' position, cherishing what she did for our futures and that we could have friends of any race and not be threatened for it. We all cried watching her being threatened and asked why would anyone ever do that to a little kid? She just wanted to go to school.
So why is teaching Black history seen as a white guilt trip? It's simply history that white people did not like black people and put many rules in place to oppress them, that's not fiction or blown out of proportion. There had to be full on protests just so people could use the same toilets, laws had to be passed so people could even date each other without being arrested. And it wasn't that long ago that these things happened, Ruby is still alive guys.
Teaching only the glories of a nation is a surefire way to create a blind future that's bound to repeat itself. The past isn't meant to be forgotten because it's uncomfortable, it's meant to be learned from. Also the reason it's Black history and not just a part of American history isn't because of "special treatment", it's because African American history wasn't taught at all and schools were comfortable with the way history was already taught so it later became a separate add on, treated like an after thought. Just like Black History month, API Heritage month, Indigenous Heritage month, and Hispanic Heritage month. Despite this country being advertised as a melting pot, the history of the other races of Americans in this country aren't melted into the curriculum, rather, they're added on and packed into one month. What you see as divisive and racial special treatment is actually the leftovers from segregation and division. Cancelling/getting rid of these topics and sweeping peoples history under the rug only censors and polices what children are allowed to know. Free speech and all that. Acting like nothing happened doesn't bring people together, acknowledgement and change does. And no, there's no cap on change where you can now forget the past because we've "changed enough to forget."
Also, if teaching AAH is a waste of time compared to teaching economics, then so is learning about the settlers, the declaration and state specific social studies. None of those things helps you get a job or learn financial literacy for adulthood so do away with those too.
So can we have an AP Anglo-American course?
Worthless. Better to learn…Economics, Business, Chemistry, Engineering, and other courses which will land you a job.

Lets see: Florida is banning books, attacking LGBT-Q students who are less than 1% of the student population, has a shortage of 9,000 teachers, pays teachers some of the lowest salaries in the country, has a middle/average public school ranking in the country, one of the most expensive states to live in, and now the banning of an Advanced Placement African American History Course? Desantis is going to continue with theses horrendous policies ann will backfire. Florida will eventually not be able to recruit or retain top scholars, and world class and competent faculty in Florida universities, and excellent teachers.

I love DeSantis!! He isn't afraid to stand up for all races by eliminating racial bigotry and unneeded racial slander. We learn about African American culture the whole month of Feburary. To add that as a full time course is not necessary for kids education. Kids need to learn what is important in their lives to succeed. Unless you are going to pursue a career in the African American movement, than there is no point to this being forced upon our kids. Sorry if a lot of you disagree. But I tip my hat to DeSantis!! All lives matter, all races matter. Period. Together we are all children of this earth and need to stop segregating ourselves by using race and color as a method of dividing us as one people!!
