It’s been a year of close calls at airports after 23 runway near misses and more in the air. While the risk is low, the NTSB chief warns that it is growing. NBC News’ Tom Costello reports more on the incidents.

This is thanks to Republican Cut-Backs and down-sizing of Federal Government Departments (i.e. "big government"). Blame it ALL on the Repugnant Party.
It’s not just the pilots and atc, it’s the layouts at some of these airports. Bostons runway overlaps are a maze. Surprised there isn’t one every day
AI to the rescue
No this is what the disastrous mis-management of COVID has done. Everyone panicked, layed off thousands or aviation workers and furloughed the rest. Stopped training and put the industry in the worst situation its ever been in when life returned to normal despite all the media insisting on "the new normal". Well of course it didnt work out that way and now that short-sightedness is wrecking havoc.
This is what happens when you prioritize race over skills
I literally just landed from LAX to Tokyo and still have to fly back
Higher me I’m 22
Maybe let people that are over 30 start training to become controllers. Once they realize their college degree is useless, it's too little too late.
When more under trained ATC are over worked
The government doesnt want us flying anymore.
Well, diversity has its early drawbacks….
I got places to be things to do. Do your job!!!
This video is a PERFECT example of fearmongering from the media. The comments are another example that it works
Why are they complaining now? Obama started this diversity hire project. Instead of hiring the more qualified, they hire people because of their color of their skins.
capitalism buckling under its own weight
ceos and investors and shareholders rake in the money and the result will be entire lost aireplanes.
maybe we need more diversity, equity and inclusion
Treat the military as one big social experiment focused more on pronouns than operational readiness, run them ragged, and pay them peanuts, and see your recruitment fall through the floor. Guess where a lot of the people who make our air transport industry work come from. And sorry, but the pilot that built his hours towing advertising banners isn’t at the same level as a pilot that earned his wings through Air Force UPT and spent the best part of a decade flying military aircraft. Same is true of controllers.
0:23 This footage is from a game, not real life
As someone who has a passion with the industry. They just hire people with college degrees and no real training for these jobs anymore. People that just want benefits and money. No one cares about pride in the job and how it works so no real morale and motivation to get the tasks done. As a ramp worker I'm happy to get people where they need to go no matter how bad the flights can get. I suffered and nearly died with JetBlue airways because the management had ZERO safety consideration whatsoever. It's sad to see the industry fall like this but it's the truth.
Meanwhile buttigieg went to visit Ukraine last week as if the US transportation secretary has ANY business at all over there.
They used a screenshot from Microsoft flight simulator in the thumbnail 💀
The entire infrastructure of the airline/aviation industry is crumbling because the passenger load is too much than what the industry can handle. Not enough pilots, baggage handlers, or maintenance workers. Talk to anyone who works in aviation and they’ll tell you they’re dead tired, exhausted, and underpaid. Thats why I left. Because the airlines are desperate for workers, they hire inexperienced ones who are bound to make mistakes. I wouldn’t be surprised if another major disaster like Tenerife were to happen. It’s a sad reality that flying is slowly turning out to be that it’s not the safest way of travelling as we once thought it was
I’d like to point out that it wasn’t a midair at hobby.
0:23 They really used game footage lol. They always try to make flying look more dangerous then it is
Yet the DOT secretary isn’t doing anything about it and still hasn’t resigned from all the transportation failures we had the last three years.
I think you will find China a similar size to The U.S. and they deem catching a plane over there is for poorer people. Fast trains seem to be the desired option……I am not saying I agree. I am just letting everyone know what people do in China.
I've said this before but people still don't believe it. You are safer driving than you are flying. Just because you see car accidents happening every day. It doesn't mean you're going to get in one. And usually 50% of the time car accidents are survivable. Now these airlines that are neglecting airplane safety. They're not properly screening pilots for mental health. Some of them are overworking themselves. There is no second chances when something goes wrong in an airplane. You are almost guaranteed to die.. 😮
This is what corporations want, work you into an early grave so accidents like this keep happening.
Fix it before it's too late…
Kinda wish you had not mandated the Jab shots
Diversity is our strength .
Just hire ChatGPT controller bot
All the money is going to the corporate and political fat cats.
Systems are being hacked.
I wonder if planes crash into each other because there are too many of them in one place.
