Al Roker is making his return to NBC after a two month absence due to a serious medical crisis that included dangerous blood clots in his legs and internal bleeding. Lester Holt sat down with Al to talk about his recovery.

I had a pulmonary embolism in 2015. I had been sick for two weeks with a respiratory infection, so I was sleeping most of that time. One morning I felt so much better, I went to my hair stylist. I felt nauseated and hot, and suddenly I was unconscious. I traumatized a lot of people before one on the stylists got me breathing again. I spent a week lying flat in the hospital with IVs and a shot in my stomach. Don't lie around in bed if you are sick. That's how I got my pulmonary embolism. Scariest thing ever once I lost the fog from it. It took over a year to lose my fear.
Always loved Al, he seems like such a kind and gentle soul. I'm so glad he is healing and able to go back to doing what he loves.
