I'm not at all surprised that it's mostly southern states trying to pass laws like this one. Back in the 60s the Southern ideology was segregation now segregation forever. When I was in middle school in Alabama for several years as a Jewish boy I was experiencing being called Christ killer and kike on a daily basis by kids who were obviously being raised by very antisemitic parents. Now we have a bunch of deep south political opportunists like this Alabama Governor trying to pass even more hateful state laws. None of this surprises me one single bit. The deep south has always and will always be backwards thinking and well behind the times. Some things just never change.
