If Alec Baldwin was Black, he would already have been charged, found guilty (not necessarily in that order) and serving a life sentence. But he is a white Hollywood elite, so a sweet deal is likely forthcoming.
Say I walk in a building.
Electrician didn't do a proper job. I switch a light on. Someone gets shocked and dies.
Is that involuntary manslaughter?
You can't expect an actor to know about firearm handling.
That's why production hire armourers that are supposed to prepare the weapons. They must also train all people involved in required safety protocols. Armourer should also be present every moment there are weapons on set. They should always keep an eye on the weapons and how they are handled and stop everything if they see anything not adequate.
The armourer screwed up big time. People who should be held responsible are the armourer and possibly the people who hired and/or supervised her. In that regard Baldwin might be prosecuted since he was also a producer. The people who handled the weapon (here Baldwin as an actor) should be the last people prosecuted unless they willingly disrespected armourer's orders.
People who are prosecuting this just want some personal fame or are caving under pressure.
It really doesn't matter. If found guilty the sentence is only 18 months, but with no priors and a good lawyer, he would only get probation. Nothing will bring that boy's mother back.

I can't believe this past year he sent out tweets and proclaimed his righteous innocence. We all knew when the story dropped that it was Baldwin who shot the gun. It's unfortunate but someone has to be accountable. You can't just let a person die and not assign blame to anyone or anything.
A woman is dead. I feel for her husband, child, parents, siblings, friends, cousins. Aunties and uncles , grandparents, colleagues……..Balwin's reaction has me more concerned than the act. He really believes he can talk his way out. A human is dead from his hands. There are consequences. Poor baby…. but he'll still be breathing…. having the love and support of his family….I hope he can accept the fact that he took a life and take responsibility for that and forever endure the pain her family feels. But he is too arrogant. He feels hard done by. Misjudged. Poor, poor Alec. And yet he is still going to finish this " film"? Come on. The almighty $$$$. I won't see it. I will never support with my money any a.b. movie or anyone involved with him. Je suis fini.

Honest question- how can they charge Alec when he was given a badly prepped gun? Shouldn't they charge the person who handles the movie weapons?

From a source I found on the internet: 10/31/2021: Was Baldwin ordered to shoot Halyna Hutchins to silence her? This is obvious, as there was no reason for him to point and shoot the prop gun. They were not filming the movie at that time, and it is standard procedure to double check the bullets if that is to occur. The crew that loaded the live bullets is complicit too, but Baldwin was fully aware and complicit. She was to be a witness against Clinton associates and had already given testimony to Durham et al. Halyna’s murder is also a warning to others not to talk.

Imagine you produce a movie where gross neglegence has led to a death and jail for the star. Then, KEEP FILMING with hope to release the film. The entire company should be shut down, let alone the production.

Everyone on that movie sets watched protocol being ignored, and they all ignored it and continued on. When you have somebody writing a resignation letter because they see the dangerous Reckless Behavior happening and you ignore that and continue on you are as guilty as can be.
