The U.S. government is warning Americans still in Sudan to get out in the next 48 hours after two weeks of fighting in the country has left at least 500 people dead. NBC’s Megan Fitzgerald has the story of one couple’s harrowing journey escaping the capital of Khartoum.

Dunno why the American couple was soo surprised – they were notified weeks before the situation could escalate into deadly violence. If you know you're in a dicey socio-political situation, then you need to be prepared to leave at a moments notice with not much more than a backpack… 🤷🏾♂️

Yep. This is what America is about. It's good at sending weapons to war zones but not good at peace work. It evacuated all its embassy diplomats but told American people on TV that you are on your own! While the Chinese Embassy personnel stayed behind and gathered some 900+ of its nationals, sent in its marines in battleships, twice, into Sudan to evacuate the Chinese nationals along the Pakistanis and Brazilians on their governments requests.
Why would you willingly go anywhere on that continent as an American?!?
This is former proof that the American government doesn’t care about its people.. get out but we won’t help you. Dismantle the government

Lady a warzone erupted and you stayed a couple more days. Once the US embassy announced it was packing up you should have too.

Seriously? Do they need an extra invitation and somebody waving a U.S. flag? The German Luftwaffe, the British RAF, and the French Air Force each evacuated hundreds of foreign nationals from dozens of nations without hesitation. The Dutch, the Turks and who knows who else did the same. And the Bowers are "frustrated".
In a twisted way, this reminds me of 2020, when EU countries evacuated their own citizens as well as many others from South America and elsewhere, including U.S. citizens, while the discussion in America was centered around the question whether these people were to blame themselves and should rot on foreign soil because they had the insolence of leaving the sacred land of the USA. This time, at least, the U.S. organized a bus convoi to the Egyptian border afaik. But those who wanted to leave via other countries' evacuation flights were free to do so. No need to be "frustrated".
Yes people who travel to dangerous places deserve all the consequences of the risk, but also USA is one of the few countries that will send marines to come and get you when things go super south. I think we just have to recognize the Biden government and military in particular sucks at evacuations.

United States government first of all gives every of their citizens guidelines or warnings when traveling to any countries that gots records of violence,war and humanitarian disasters can even get it on the site… Now WTH are they going there for?…. And they been telling them to leave long ago. From personal experience, they usually tell them as well to always go to the U.S. embassies of any of those countries they got in and give out all their information including the addresses and if changed report back but guess what? Some of them do not like stress so they didn’t… Nevertheless, I hope the gov do something about it. But man if I was in the military I wouldn’t want to put my life at risk to save some stubborn folks lol. Also I had most there are also immigrant who became citizens 😂
What options are there! How is America doing anything to help not only people stuck in Sudan but for the Sudanese people? That’s my question, it’s so sad that America is asking for help from other countries when these citizen who are stuck in Sudan are unarm, in a war zone and pretty much on there own. If there was a way for me to help I would. 😢😢 Trudy knew what was happening they know there was a war coming and they trap themself, I do understand the situation is awful but if your warned to leave a country, leave.

I hope everyone finds their way to save place to be able to leave. I thank all our allies who are willing and are helping us. I hope people who don't have the extra help that was able to pull strings ect like this couple had. Find that extra help and are able to leave safely. Because not everyone has that. My heart goes out to them and the citizens who can't leave because they aren't Americans and are trapped in between this battle.
