AD – This video includes a paid integration with Sky Cinema! As part of Sky Cinema Club, I get to review the latest films and share my thoughts with you all. This month’s film couldn’t have been more timely, as ‘Father Of The Bride’ – a RomCom where wedding traditions are questioned alongside lots of laughter, a few tears and some serious home inspo – has Charlie and I questioning wedding traditions and whether we will or won’t be taking part in them for our special day!

  1. The important central concern should be making it a magical day for you and Charlie. Every tradition should be weighed through that lense.

  2. We are enjoying tomato, from our green house. Hopefully your green house be corrected soon. For your wedding you have the best of the best. 🥰

  3. new way of filming and cutting the London part – I love it! So fresh and modern 💖

  4. I just read that tere is a terrible shortage of water in GB and people arround London were forbidden to water their gardens!! they said that pritty soon it will be forbidden for more people in other arias of England to water their gardens.
I can not imagine what that will do to your garden! and after all the invesment… I can not believe the level of shortage of water that is going on im Europ at the moment! I feel that ther is a need to adress it and not to act a though buisness is as usuale!

  5. 🐼 Big Panda Bear Hugs from a 69 yr old grandma in Texas, USA.

    🐼 ❤ 🎀 👍 🧚‍♂ 🐈 🧚 🍀

  6. Find a couturier who specialises in wedding gowns
My daughter did this and her dress was sensational
We gave up on wedding shops with racks of same same gowns .

  7. Josie you and Charlie have the wedding you want it is your special day are wedding was beautiful went to quick we have been married 30 years this year time goes so quick thank you for your video I love watching the all x

  8. Love it when you spend time with your girlfriends! Just so much fun and relatable ❤️

  9. When you you have time, try to watch the 1950 film of Father of the Bride, with Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor.

  10. Think with the price of wedding these days nobody should expect their Father to pay. personally if I was to do it again I wouldn't spend as much on the day.
Lauren Melhuish Sprague a u tuber I follow just got married she did a video on her experience of getting a wedding dress it's brilliant.
u are right about the green house everyone wants what they pay for.

  11. Hi! Just wanted to say something about the wedding dresses. I have worked in the wedding industry for 7 years (I do not anymore) and studied Fashion Design….and some brands that you went to try on dresses I have worked for and the reason j left (even though I love wedding dresses and fabrics and embellishments) is that they are SO OVERPRICED…i felt bad working for a company that charged such price when j know tbe cost of materials…… one dress was 36000 in a place I worked at and this was almost 10 years ago???? This js like deposit for a house. I designed and made my own wedding dress and jn fact my husband (fiance at the time) helped me with pinning lace on my back 🙂 I have wonderful memories of making the dress myself and sure there are some mistakes hehe which I tried to conceal…..now as I remember it …its fond memories.. no one noticed slight errors heheh….i felt amazing in it…we had Ana amazing day ….so I would definitely recommend making your own dress. I used old Sewing patterns and changed them to my own design. ❤❤❤❤❤

  12. Josie please visit Hermione De Paula in Hampstead Heath!!!! SO beautiful, hand made in their atelier in the middle of the park ✨♥️ check out their Wild Garden collections 😍 I guarantee you’re going to LOVE!!
All of the girls are super lovely too it was a 100% positive experience

  13. Oh and yes my 1st wedding dress I purchased at Macy's, 1971,it was a limited edition Macy's original. All of 35.00 dollars. I loved it.
2nd wedding a 200.00 Bruchners dress. Adorable loved that too. It's time for you to think out of the box.

  14. You need to sort your teeth 1st !!!!!!!!!! Side profile is weird looking

  15. I agree 100% about the wedding dresses. But let's admit it, it's not just wedding dresses. Makes me think of the 1700+ dollar Balenciaga black plastic trash bag. So insulting. They must hate us.

  16. Josie, I feel that as long as we aren’t hurting family feelings, whatever you want to do is perfect. ❤️

  17. Do you have AC in your car? I am getting the same things out of my garden as you. Love your garden and green house. Design your wedding dress and find someone you trust to make it…..enjoy the process. Wishing you the best.

  18. I have been making my own clothes for a long time because I am not willing to pay lots of money for a dress that is still being made in Asia that does not fit me and will shrink in the first wash. I need to do a large bust adjustment as dresses are made for 5ft 6inch height and B cup I have made bridesmaid dresses for family and friends and they have all loved that they fit so well and I make them exactly as they want them with lovely fabrics. I am so sure you could make your own dress I won't make a bridal gown as you need a sterile room and I live in a small bungalow but you have plenty of space. It's the same with flowers as soon as you mention wedding the price rockets I did a small course and enjoyed it so much what upset me was when the tutor told us a lot of florists use end-of-day flowers for funerals as nobody usually checks on them. You are so good at what you do I am sure you could do it and think how special it would be to wear a dress you have designed and made you could do the bridesmaids as well, you would need an overlocker and a good sewing machine

  19. Another beautiful video Josie. I am not surprised you haven’t found your dress. Sometimes it takes us a bit to find the right one. You will know it when you see it🌹

Now about the Greenhouse, do not feel bad for wanting perfection especially when you spend big dollars of your hard earned money. I’m kinda surprised that didn’t take a look over before they left and fix the things that were not perfect. After all, you guys were on vacation so it’s not like they didn’t have the time to do it properly🌹

Every where you go to eat looks so good. My husband and I need to seek out more interesting restaurants. We tend to go on repeat and I have been quite bored lately. 🌹

Well have a wonderful week and I can’t wait until the next vlog 🌹

  20. My sister wore a couture dress she loved and it was most perfect dress and not one of those duckling white tents

  21. Father of the bride-has been made at least 3times, none of them very good. I had a lovely wedding dress in the 6O which cost £50 the dresses today are outrageous

  22. If I could do it all again, I would rent my wedding dress and get the dress of dreams…food for thought. See you soon! ~dee~

  23. For wedding dresses, maybe don’t always go to known designers. My mum had hers made from scratch from a local dress maker for £750! It was stunning quality and held her natural 40k boobs up!! explore different options xx

  24. Dear Josie! I’m not planning to have a wedding in the next few years, but already have chosen The Brand that I’m going to wear as my wedding dress. It’s a hungarian brand called Daalarna, and the dresses are spectacular and made just for you, they are unique and you can combine parts of the collections. Maybe it is worth to have a look at the dresses 🙂 🥰

  25. Hi Josie, you are absolutely correct, your greenhouse should be constructed with high standards. Smooth, flush fitting seams, as well as proper craftmanship in painting and no gaps.

  26. I think you should have your wedding to whichever degree of traditional you both wish, it’s your day and one to remember. I totally agree with the prices of wedding dresses, they can be huge amounts, why spend thousands and thousands on a dress that you wear once? You wouldn’t spend that much on a dress for an event and put it in the wardrobe and never wear again. You will still look stunning regardless of the price Josie. Monsoon, Reiss etc can have beautiful non wedding dresses which are more than suitable and a fraction of the price. We have some of the nespresso ice cube trays I the creams and browns too, huge ice cubes they make.

  27. Its funny how the woman always had the far lesser role in the old days an yet her father paid for it.

  28. Agree that expecting the bride's parents to pay for the wedding is dated. Many brides today have successful careers and can afford to contribute/fund their own weddings. Also agree that considering a couture gown that can be reworn (New Year's Eve, etc) can be a glamourous alternative to a traditional gown.

  29. I bought a clearance wedding dress in the sale and then redesigned around the base shape, it meant I got to choose my own fabrics for the bulk of the dress. I got a custom piece for a much better price. My dress did not exist anywhere the way I saw it in my head. When you find the right bridal boutique they can make the best things happen for you. We did all of this is about 6 months as well so dont worry too much about time frame 😊

  30. My wedding dress was purchased from a small boutique shop – off the rack – a local florist did the flowers – a garden wedding for 45 guests – I was very pleased with my look and the day was perfect – no need to spend thousands of pounds on a dress you will never wear again. Good luck.

  31. Oops – how embarrassing for you! All those people at your house and you in a see through dress and pink pants!

  32. There is no need to pay top price for a dress just because it comes from a bridal boutique. Many other viewers have already commented about this and made wonderful suggestions for alternatives, so I won't add my two cents there. However, I will say that you should choose the traditions that speak to you or make your family (especially your mother) happy. You will remember the love and laughter of the day long after you remember the details of the dress or the shoes you chose.

  33. I'm married over 25 years and wore a pantsuit. We didn't want to spend what we had in one evening. We decided to take the monies we would've spent on a home and a car. It spearheaded us to a better place economically. I was in the executive management program at Bloomingdales and realized a couture dress was going for the same price as a wedding dress, it's when I decided a simple taupe pantsuit would work for me. Marriage can already be difficult without having finance issues added to the mix. Do what you want, wear what you want, enjoy the day and your marriage.

  34. Great vlog ❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿love.

  35. Wedding traditions: whatever works best for both of you! We did that 30 some years ago, and never regretted it. It was a precious memory especially by he has now passed. Live with love and no regrets.

  36. Josie, you have to watch the original Father of the Bride with Steve Martin! Beautiful movie! ☺️

  37. I got married in June, I did not want polyester dress. I ended up buying never used sample dress from Alessandra Rinaudo(italian weeding dress designer) couture collection in silk and real french lace on Vinted. The dress was from 2018 collection. The structure, design, and beading(small delicate pearls and cristals sewn by hand according to the patern of the lace) were really amazing compared to even expensive dresses I tried in salons. I paid 500 euro plus dry cleaning 150 euro. The original price of this dress was somewhere beetween 4000 or 5000 euro. I was comfortable and I was not sweating On my day. Better natural fabrics looks way more classy.

  38. Wedding dresses are just a phenomenal rip off because no matter how fabulous they are, you only wear it ONCE! I suspect that the dress you finally decide upon will have some of the same characteristics as the dresses you already like but in upscaled fabric. Don’t spend a crazy amount of money on a wedding dress because you will regret it unless you plan to give it away or resell it, “The dress” is something you will know style-wise when you put it on. But, if you are uncomfortable spending X amount of money, it will be hard to be happy with the dress even if it is gorgeous. On the other hand, don’t buy something if you don’t feel lovely in it.

Put your psychic energy into the marriage afterwards and not so much on the wedding and whether you follow certain “traditions.” I’ve been married nearly 55 years and I will tell you that your relationship changes a lot over time, and when you get to be as old as my love and I are now, the wedding, the dress, the irritations of the wedding itself are just gauzy memories. What remains is the tenderness of the love you start out with, the problems you have endured and struggled with and survived.

  39. Hola, me encanta tu jardín!!🌱🪴🌲🌳

  40. Hi Josie, I totally agree with the Wedding Dresses, I ended up designing my dress myself with Amy Mair Couture. It was an absolutely incredible experience, I got to choose all the fabrics myself alongside Amy who only chose the highest quality silk and lace. She was incredible and it cost £2k (in 2017), highly highly recommend. My sister ended up doing the same with a different designer in N.Ireland and her dress was incredible quality and just perfection to her style and body shape etc, it was also around £2,000. Hope this helps x

  41. Yes I totally agree . Why not go for it my daughter designs wedding dresses and did her own which was about two thousand to make it was stunning. It is to challenge these prices because it is out of control

  42. I have been to about 80 weddings in my yrs so far and one of the loveliest was a surprisingly pared down event. Yes dream dresses are a must for some but a dream dress and dream wedding have a formidable cost to them. Yes it should be memorial but from huge Italian weddings very solvakian ones, beach baby ones traditional church ones….none of it can be ruined unless you let your head go there. One friends wedding her dog came in from outside on a muddy wet December wedding day and jumped up on her white velvet gown she just laid on her bed for a second while she adjusted her stocking. Yes she cried but her wise gram said look at the stories you can tell your Grandchildren….she still married her prince and 47 yrs later are still together, and we all remember the wedding day and story. You may be surprised by the dress you fall in love with when you settle into it all. As was my daughter. We went ftom spectacular and shocking price tags to when she put it on feeling like she was wearing something so her it was shocking in its simplicity..Perhaps try simpler for a few …then bling another few. But it needs to reflect who you are…some are astoundingly frilled or blinged up but look tackie and goush. Breathe and let who you are and are comfortable being show through.

  43. Create your own dress or wear something you already have!

  44. Josie,
That dress you tried on was beautiful. I realize things look different in person versus the camera, but you looked so pretty.
Also, the OCD in me keeps looking at your brass makeup mirror and I want to fix it back on the screw for you! Ha! 💕🪞

  45. Yes you are totally right it is a con. I used to work for a court dressmaker. She felt with all her experience a wedding dress is not anymore difficult to make as any other dress. They just cash in on it being an emotional thing.

  46. I can definitely see you designing wedding dresses. You are the perfect person to do so. Love watching your boys. Kisses on bunny rabbits cheeks. I have been watching Virgin River on Netflix.. not sky but still a lovely watch. The garden is beautiful. Well done. Lovely wholesome vlog xo
