According to a Federal Trade Commission report, scammers have been using fake identities to gain the trust and affection of potential partners in hopes to receive money. NBC News’ Jacob Ward reports on how these romance scams have surged during the pandemic hitting a record-high in 2021 with losses totaling 547 million dollars.

Always insist on a video call, usually by zoom or something anonymous. Insist on a video call, use a disposable account on skype or a zoom call. If the other person says they can't video chat because of their job (like doctor on an offshore oil platform) it's a fake. The only interest dating websites and apps have is in keeping you paying them a subscription fee.
It isn't just male profiles scamming females it female profiles that are controlled by black men and black women from Ghana and Nigeria posing as female pornstars and every date sate is same way Asian people Chinese trying to scam men with their cryptocurrency scams they call it pig butchering and Filipino women trying to scam American men let people know there is no legitimate female profile on date sites if there is they still don't want nothing to do with you
