After the longest economic expansion in U.S. history that Obama created, and presided over for 7+ of his 8yrs in office, handed off to Trump, then a once in a century global pandemic shut down the economies of the world, disrupting supply and transportation of goods around the world. I don't know how anyone would not be expecting a downturn, unless they are so delusional that they think a once in a century global event is no big deal, and would not take 5 or more years to work though.

The stock market is not how to determine the economic health of the country. It has turned into a huge ponzi scam, with billionaires manipulating stock prices, so gullible small investors can be drained. Dividends are what really matters. Just look at Tesla. Consumer Reports ranks it at 26 out of 27 EVs. It has never declared a dividend. Its wannabe space ship, pickup, is still not in production and Tesla wants a $20,000.00 deposit on a Simi tractor, that is not being built. So why is the stock so high.
