Why are all these houses exploding?
Wasn't yesterday it was a few days ago and yes it was caused by gas, only a gas leak that leads to a big explosion like this can only do this damage. Your reporter needs to do the story right to not mislead the public this didn't happen on New Year's eve.

one of my neighbors was unhappy about being evicted so the day they left, they hacked holes all in the propane piping to that side of the duplex. I roused my other neighbors (we all live in seperate homes fairly close) and in 5 minutes every emergency vehicle in the area was in front of my house. 4 of the 5 houses have children. none of us could leave our house; it's no joke.
How often does this happen now..? Smoke outdoors..

Very sad. Take the time to educate yourself and loved ones on the proper use, care and safety around gas. There are a host of products and experts to keep you and your loved ones safe.
I live in this area and this was heard miles away also rattled homes. This man's family was up from Alabama for the holidays. i can't remember exactly how the family member went but it was either his son and DIL or daughter and SIL and their 3 kids. The grandfather and 1 grandchild so far are still alive but in critical but stable condition. The whole area is in shock and rallying together to help in any way possible

Propane is heavier than air and a leak will fill the lowest area of a house or boat hull, displacing the air, until it hits an ignition source like the tiny spark inside a light switch when operated. When the propane explosion is captured in a basement or the hull of a boat below water line the rapidly expanding gasses can only go up and outward, often leaving a scattered debris field like that shown on the video. Natural gas, on the other hand, is lighter than air and will rise and escape if possible rather than pool in the lowest areas.
