A new report from the Committee to Protect Journalists has found the war has been the deadliest period for reporters in more than 30 years. At least 68 journalists have been killed and more than a dozen others injured or missing. NBC’s Ellison Barber speaks with CPJ’s Sherif Mansour about why the war has been so deadly for journalists.

Glad to see mainstream media is finally catching up to what everyone else has been seeing online. I used to be a regular watcher of these news shows but they have lost my support over the past few years and especially since 10/7. We’ve been seeing the destruction every day reported out by these journalists. Shame on our country and mainstream outlets for not reporting accurately- and only showing the IDF side of things. We are waking up to this hypocrisy!!

Those number were checked? // In the first 11 months of 2023, 45 journalists were killed carrying out their work, down from 61 last year, according to the annual report by RSF.
It was the smallest number since 33 died in 2002, largely due to a major drop in Latin America. While some 63 journalists have been killed in the MIDDLE EAST since the Oct. 7 start of fighting between Israel and Islamist group HAMAS, only 17 of those deaths fell under RSF's definition…. Of the 84 journalists counted as missing worldwide, about a third are MEXICAN The number of jailed reporters declined to 521 from 569 in 2022, with BELARUS joining CHINA and MYANMAR as "one of the three biggest prisons in the world…TURKEY and IRAN also repeatedly jail journalists, the report said. A total of 54 journalists are being held hostage, compared to 65 in 2022. (VOA Agence France-Presse, December 14, 2023).

We are witnessing a catastrophe live on television, and no one is doing anything to stop it. Over 20000 people have been killed, of which over 7000 are innocent children. Extensive bombing over civilian areas, schools, hospitals, and refugee camps. The cut of water, electricity, food, medicine, and fuel to 2.2 million people… This is not a war against Hamas, this is just a war against the people. Disgraceful is to watch. The countries who support this or those who stay silent.
