Disinformation. Boise Authorities were attempting to cover up multiple deaths.
Structural overload? Wind, impure components, wind, crane operations, foundation conditions, any & all could & might be reasons. Prayers to the families involved. Our family has lost one construction to accident & has had a couplhe close calls. Construction industry is a dangerous occupation regardless wwhether it is human err, materials, design or atmospheric.

Construction work is dangerous work. The people who were injured (or worse) were just trying to earn a living and didn't deserve any of this. If you do construction for a living: first, thank you. You help this country grow. You lay the foundation for all the prosperity that follows. Second, please be careful. Come home in one piece. There's always time to do it safely, even if that's inconvenient for the boss.

It looks like the crane collapsed under load, likely due to high winds, slamming the load into the standing structure.

Inferior Chinese products, cheap metal, etc., that are not up to code. Pure and simple.

We were in Boise last summer, really shocked at how much new construction was going on and esp how fast they were throwing buildings up. My bet is improper site prep, fill was being used everywhere and may not have been properly compacted in this case.
