I think by batting on and on by Australia has done women’s test cricket a disservice. Has it shown how good the Australians are? No it has just shown how bad South Africa are. A 500 run lead? Was that necessary? Instead they thought let’s smash all sort or records because we can. That is a selfish attitude with the gulf between the best and worst vast. As things stand, you will only ever see competitive women's test matches between England, Australia and India. I don't see how that changes any time soon to be honest. Women's test matches are barely financially viable for the big 3, never mind the other nations.
That south african bowling attack is absolutely woeful. Maybe there is a political barrier stopping better bowlers playing but surely better options must exist. Dreadful.
