If they powers that be wanted to stop this crime they would make it an automatic life sentence or death penalty for anyone involved in stealing, selling or storing stolen catalytic converters.

July of this year (2022) my too also got stolen from under my car and what was even more painful for me was it was stolen on the day I had my ABOG state board test. I was literally crying like no joke . I felt that the devil was messing with me because he’s always busy SMH. My mom had to pray with me and dropped me off to the testing center. That particular day was just one of the worse mornings ever for me. What was suppose to be an exciting morning fill with anxiety 😂turn into a disaster morning😩. But God is good tho because I passed the test.
The bit at the end about how to tell if your catalytic converter was stolen is almost comical. You'd have to be deaf to not know immediately that your catalytic converter or converters were stolen. Not to mention the car would likely throw a check engine light as soon as it runs for 20 seconds or less.
They just stole one of my neighbors truck…
I hope his 1.7 million dolllar home goes on the market including all his possessions so it can go to reimburse those insurance claims for stolen Converters. That’s the least this guy and all the other offenders can do to repay for part of their crimes. Not only is this is criminal offense but this is also an environmental crime because they are used to prevent harmful emissions.

sounds like an advertisement to recruit more criminals to do this. I'm pretty sure the thief doesn't get $1000 for a stolen converter, that's more like the replacement cost to legitimately buy a new one.

If they steal my converter I'm going to replace it with a piece of straight exhaust pipe. Costs about 10 bucks. No more worries. Illegal? Who cares. If the police can't stop these Cat Maggots then I can.

These rip off guys think they are smart but they are dumber than a box of rocks. Going vehicle to vehicle to collect the converters is ridiculous when you can get the contents of the converters all in one spot in 55 gallon drums ready to process.

Why won't anyone name the refinery that bought stolen metals from catalytic converter thefts? Why should the refinery be protected? They had to know that they were receiving stolen goods.

So, I wonder if they can put all of those converters back in service again. Somehow identify what cars they go to, sort, and inventory, so when someone needs to replace a stolen converter, they can check the database, and see if one is in stock and get a recovered converter back in service.
When theft reaches the million-dollar+ range, the death penalty seems fair to me…provided we keep updating the amount vis a vis inflation.
