You are witnessing 30 years of corruption and lack of military planning in action here. Yet Armenians are mad at the current president. If Armenia actually cultivated itself as a state instead of be a "hand me free stuff papa Russia," maybe things would have been different.

My understanding is that the Nagorno-Karabakh region originally belonged to Azerbaijan, but Armenians took advantage of the collapse of the USSR to occupy the area when Azerbaijan was weak at the time. So Armenia's accusation of Azerbaijan aggression has no leg to stand on.

Armenia is one of the leaders in the re-export of dual-use goods to Russia (products with chips), which are widely used by Russian mitary industry. Railroad, natural gas and many other sectors of Armenian economy are oficially owned by Russia. Russian border patrol defends Armenian borders and all high level Armenian officers studied in Russia. Now Russia is weak and can't help Armenia, and Azerbaijan liberates its internationally recognized territories. Also Azerbaijani refugees are returning to their homes occupied by Armenian forces for 30 years.
Armenia should let Americans go and make deal with Russia and Azerbaijan thats the best for them in this moment.
