The public should be reminded that Democrats don't "have" the Senate, because the filibuster means a 60% majority is needed to pass bills that a Democrat-majority (51%) House of Republicans approves. This has obstructed Biden's attempts to fulfill many campaign promises, yet could be fixed by a bigger "Blue Wave" in Congress!

I don’t know what the average undergrad debt load is, but I bet it’s more than $25k. Since most income-driven repayment plans already forgive balances at 25 years or less of on-time payments, then this new plan literally does nothing. I guess it might help people who signed up for college and decided early not to finish and also dropped out before getting new loans. That doesn’t bother me at all to give people a break when they didn’t get a degree, but it’s annoying that this is being marketed as broad student debt relief. It’s not. It’s extremely narrow and won’t make a difference for most people.

With 45 million with student debt, it’s a bit too convenient to use tax dollars to buy the popular vote right before an election. He also had 4 years after he campaigned on this same empty promise.
