Welp, Biden just cemented himself as one of the most impactful presidents on drug policy of all time. This is how he’ll be remembered for this amazing step towards federal legalisation and the eventual end of the war on drugs.
Since there’s not one person in federal prison right now for simple possession this will be as effective as anything else he’s done. I know it’s supposed to remove past conviction stigma for some but I question how much stigma there is for simple possession of pot. Here in Orange County Florida we have a person in the police academy that has admitted to using heroin just a year ago.
Nobody is in federal for simple weed, they are not getting out because they have much bigger charges against them.

Yes, this needs to be done and should have been done a long time ago. I think this wonderful that he is saying he will do this. The problem here lies in the details. Biden said he would forgive student loans but then the details came out that he wouldn't for people in collections. Which are the vast majority of people and the people that need it the most. It's obvious he's trying to make a good impression before mid-terms. The fact is he is increasing income-tax and he is planning on increasing the amount of money taken out of peoples checks for social security by 2-3%. That will be an additional 5% taken out of your check by mid next year. He also approved hiring 87,000 additional IRS agents so they can make sure your paying all your extra taxes. All of this while food prices are going up, gas is up and energy bills are climbing in price. Do not take the bait and give this man a good approval rating. By the end of next year a married couple with a combined income of $80,000 will be considered poor. Me and my wife live in Florida and have a combined income of $100,000 and we live in a single bedroom apartment, go out to eat once a week, almost never get to buy clothes or shoes and still barely save money after paying $2000 dollars for rent and utilities, $800 in car payments, $175 phone bill, whatever money for Netflix and gym memberships, health insurance because my wife has an autoimmune disease, and then $500 a month in groceries so she can eat a strict diet for her lupus. I know people are going to comment and say just move somewhere cheaper but we can't because she has to be near her family because of other issues. This is the most hopeless I've felt in a long time. I voted for him but I never imagined him increasing taxes while the cost of living is sky rocketing. The fact that we are spending billions in the Ukraine instead of on farming grants to increase food production and lower food cost in our own country, blows my mind.
