President Biden says he is considering a federal gas tax holiday, which could save consumers just over 18 cents a gallon. The proposal would offer a small, temporary savings as the national average price of gas hovers near $5 a gallon, according to AAA. A handful of states already suspended taxes for several weeks this spring. Biden will also meet with oil company executives to push CEOs to do more to increase supply.

If the Federal Fuel Tax was a percentage formula then ok, but it’s a cent formula, meaning as the price increase the government actually takes in less as a percentage per dollar, yes, they are still getting their 0.184¢ (gas) and 0.244¢ (diesel), but at $5 gas it’s like what 3.68%, remember the last time the Fuel Tax was increased was doing the President Clinton time, the question needs to be asked, why have oil company in the US been cutting refinery capabilities for years, this is nothing new, you see it because of the reckless tax cuts and spending by your government, both parties are to blame anyway, a Fuel Tax holiday would be nothing if it means less money for the roads and bridges, that are already in bad shape
Don't blame Biden…blame the 81 million haters that voted for him.

oil refinery is almost at full capacity. its the limiting factor. its common sense to activate those closed refineries. loosen EPA regulation to reactivate those refineries. but they would'nt do that because of their "green agenda". the green agenda is still intact but biden is shifting the blame to something else
A whopping 18 cents cents a gallon lol. As soon as whitmer got in office she nailed Michigan with 45 cents a gallon gas tax on top of what we were already being taxed. Since the tax isn't needed why reinstate it?

On every crisis, on every issue, Biden and the democrats are late to respond or react. And just like the border crisis , they are the very ones how created this mess with the war on fossil fuel. He talks out of both sides of his mouth—wanting the oil companies to spend more and refine more while at the same time promises to shut them down. Insane.
This is going to do nothing for consumers, except take money away from the government to repair our roads. Biden needs to call for a national emergency and use his power to take over the companies and lower prices for Americans.
The answer is very simple reopen the pipeline the Democrats closed due to caving in to extremist environmentalist
1 of 2 things will happen. 1. gas stations won't lower the prices and they will profit the money. 2. There will be a rush at the pump to get cheap gas running stations out of gas and making the issue worse.
